Description
Wow, this took a while. *bushed*Worked forever on the lighting and some of the armor details, and about 5 minutes on the background. Wow, I used to hate doing backgrounds, but now I can say as long as I keep them simple, they work out really well!

So cool. I love the way the weppons and armor shine in the light but it's the shadeing that takes the cake it makes it look so real.

I Love the spear and dreads here. The background isperfect, it iisn't detailed enough where it detracts you from the character <3

A most awesome rendition of a Predator. You should be very proud. All that hard work indeed turned into a most excellent piece of art. Just awesome!
Fave!

This looks geat. The coloring is partucularly good, and the background couldn't be better seriously. The spear is a bit short though, as someone said earlier. Overall great job!

Yeah we definitely grew up around the same time, same sort of place. I used to love drawing aliens and especially predator when I was young. I collected all the predators, like the kids collect pokΓ©mon today.
This is a nice one, very inspiring and it brings me back.

I love the predators. They are awesome. One of the best movie "monsters" ever created. Second only to the original Graboids. "Aliens" come in third. (In my opinion anyway) ...hmmm. You know what I just realized, I've yet to find any decent artwork of Bloodrayne and Dante from DMC3 paired up as a kickass duo. Why in the world is that? Their games came out around the same time and they both hunt down demons for a living.

It looks AWESOME....I love the texture you give with your brush strokes and the palette is really nice and warm....and the background is great...XD The armoring is amazing and I love the skulls! He looks like he's waiting for a split second to make a decision on where next to hunt....
You've got coloring down and lighting is going good....one thing to work on is line weight (remember Carmelo...*lol*) Right now, those fabulous lines you use for texture are about the same weight as your inking lines giving them equal importance....there should be a very big difference between those. If you vary your line weight, you'll see how much more dimentional you work becomes AND you'll see that you'll be able to cause a focal point where you want it by emphasizing the lines where you want people looking the most...
What I do for hands, is I take out my craptastic webcam and I take shots of them in positions I want so I can see how they are placed and formed....if you like, you can do the same and see if it helps you with things....
Seriously, a great job...me luffs seeing your stuff *hugs*

OMG, best critique evar!
Yeah, I almost always forget to change my line weight, and something like this, I should have varried it a bit more. *gotta remember, gotta remember, gotta remember..*
AHHH! I have a craptastic webcam too! And I never even thought of taking quick shots of my hands!! That really could of helped a bunch of drawings I've struggled with lately.
I'm really glad you and others like the warm feeling. I have two other predator pics, and I really wanted to make this one have a different tone, but I was afraid the warm mood might make it...umm...I dunno, "un-predatory" or something.
Thanks!!!

Well no...teh golden glows only serve to enhanse him I find... It's like it's at teh end of a day, or after a storm...
I'm into critiquing *lol* Sometimes, I'm afraid because I never know how someone will react, especially someone I know!
Here's another trick for you....if you arn't sure if you've got enough values on your piece, make it balck and white and look it over. If you find places that look flat in B&W, then those areas need more tonal value...
I also regularily flip on image upside down...it helps to realllly emphasize the places that are 'wrong' so to speak...
If I have a better camera, i'd be taking pics of more than just my hands...*LMAO*

Wow, that is a good trick. Nicole was telling me the other night it could stand to have some darker tones.

Yes...around his head and shoulder area....and also on the areas where you've got the backlighting to really show that he's got that backlighting... Your goal should be to make him look as dimentional as possible...XD
He could also have a few more highlights on the dreads.
You've got great skill and I'm still working on tones and values and lighting....i always forget to pick a bloody light source...*lol* Everyone has something to work on, that's the fun thing about art...there's so many ways to get better!

Nice picture. The weapon is a bit too small, i like it though. You can exaggerate this a bit, then it's just right
The fist around the spear isn't closed... but it's not that difficult. Maybe you should accentuate the muscels a bit more and make the head smaller.
I like the colors! Very nice and warm.
