Description
The Spix's macaw is one of the rarest macaws on earth. This Brazilian parrot is critically endangered, thought to be extinct in the wild since the last one was sighted in 2000. Their plight was primarily due to habitat loss. On a lighter note, the main characters of the movie Rio were inspired by the Spix's macaw.I was only able to make a few Spix's macaws in time for my macaw update, and I would love to have made more. This pendant design came as sudden inspiration while I was working on some Spix charms. After trying my hand at the forget-me-not blooms, I went with the idea and created this. The lack of tail was a conscious choice to emphasize the heart shape of the wings, and also to make the pendant less bulky. I welcome any feedback or criticism you would like to give on this piece.
