I was researching endangered birds from New Zealand, and along with learning about my absolute favorite (the kākāpō), I found this really cool bird: the South Island takahē! It's flightless, monogamous, and it has really pretty coloring. Takahē are native to the swamplands, but live in alpine grasslands. 306 of them were alive and thriving in 2016.Anyways, I made this with a Crayola watercolor set and the same ballpoint pen I use for all my drawings. (Ignore the Bible; I was trying to remember the word "apocryphal".)
