Well she's not dating anyone OC anyway outside of the wishful thinkings of her fanboys. But really, it's not gonna stop them even if it becomes canon, hell a lot of people ship Shining Armor with other ponies as well as Cadence with others despite both being married to each other.

I wish. If they did there'd have been more uproar in the fandom I think. Enough had issue that Twilight even had a love interest in the film, if that crush carried over into the series as obvious as that, then there'd be a lot more butt-hurt Twi-lovers who are already mad that Twilight was for a moment romantically involved with a character that was their OC. Personally I'd love it if this ship went somewhere in the show, partially because I support it but also because I want to see those haters get pissed off because then there'd be nothing they could do about it.

Unexpecting but it was certainly great, after all, the demand for his return is stronger than that Twitter entry.
Plus, the Mane 6 someday have to experience relationships. Well, Rarity has Spike as a start, but pony to pony is more interesting when Twilight is the 2nd mare to be in love with.

Well I think Spike and Rarity had their closure in "Secret of My Excess". She knows he has feelings for her but she doesn't really share them. It's an unrequited love that would take a major leap to work. I wouldn't say Twilight is the 2nd since Rarity was more infatuated by Blueblood than anything and it's hard to tell with Fancy Pants.

She don't share because I think it's more likely due to him being a small kid, I can see like when a young primary school kid falls in love with an older teen. So it's hard to share among the others except for her friends.
Anyway, Twilight & Flash is kind of like more equal or genuine or whatever description that shows they are much more interesting and see how they fare. Surely we'll see them together again at the Crystal Empire where the Games would perform. Hopefully the crew finds the time to develop Flash further so he won't become the Gary Stu people have been complaining about.
Speaking of Gary Stu, that same goes for the rumored Equestria Girls 2, there must be better development of him than in the previous movie. With Twilight not there, then maybe Sunset is our Twilight in that movie? Maybe. But we'll wait and see what EQD has to give us the further news on that topic.

I dunno, we'll have to wait and see. And really we don't know exactly if Twilight won't be there do we? I mean sure they said 30 moons (2.5 years) and apparently Season 3 started exactly one year after Season 1 did (in the show's timeline as far as we can tell) so maybe she won't be. I dunno sometimes it's hard to tell. And maybe it'd be THAT world's Twilight. Who knows? There's a lot of unknowns at this point since to me it's still a rumor.

Speaking of EQG2, I don't know either as based on the box, that's what it teases us but we can't confirm on this one.
Anyway, my main focus earlier is about Twilight will have to be with Flash as in the pony world of course. Thejboy wrote the fiction of those 2 really well, surely one day they'll take the relationship seriously. Though right now Flash's job as a guard is pinning him down from seeing her.

That's possible. I mean a few months ago I made a quick comic as a joke as a way of having Flash Sentry in the series and have a sort of relationship with Twilight and have it work. We saw in the season 4 premier Twilight had trouble flying and it didn't exactly seem like Dash was really up to teaching her. Since Flash is a pegasus pony I thought "hey, there's a way".

So yeah, I really love when he showed up in that episode, although for a short while must have a reason when his duty comes first over relationship. Hopefully one day they'll bust that Twitter entry and let love takes place between the 2, and yes, to teach her to fly better.

I dunno how legit it is but I saw a screenshot of a tweet by Larson saying that he demanded the return of Flash from Hasbro and he'd do it again if he had to.
