Only one Female protagonist throughout the whole series...that's a pretty bad ratio there.

I don't think the gender really matters. Heather was one of the best protagonists because of how she was written; not her gender.

I think you miss the point....I'm just pointing out that if ever noticed that Heather is the only female protagonist thus far and the rest are white males? Also look up smurffette principle which perfectly describes this picture or their habits of keep including white male protagonists every single time which is rather getting tiresome and even the protagonist from the upcoming Silent Hills game is a white male which at this point I just gave up hope of seeing another seeing another Silent Hill game with a female protagonist.

Still, it might be nice to have more variety in protagonist type, but I do think you can forgive Norman Reedus for being a white male.
