Friends, families, we all gathered here today to pay our last tributes to our dear friend: The Joke, who fell victim to yet another unoriginal and one-dimensional idea about the worst pony.
May memories endure.

The joke half works here. The only plot hole in the finale was the idea that Tirek would know about Cadance but not Twilight, and that newly-minted traitor Discord wouldn't just tell Tirek about Twilight anyway (especially if he could sense a power swap of that level). So... the comic works as a deconstruction of that right up until the last panel.
It was still cute. Admittedly Derpy was the most obvious choice, but again. Adorable. And let's be honest, if so much as a hair on Dinky's head was singed by Tirek's flame spells it would become quite apparent just how competent Derpy can be (TIL: mother Derpy is far more interesting than muffin Derpy).

I haven't really watch the finale... actually, I haven't really watch Season 4 in its whole.
I don't know, I don't get this whole hype about her at all... in fact. She is cute, yeah, but the way bronies just come with the same unfunny "jokes" and gigs all over and over and over and over again about her is getting too tiring. Ironic right? A fanbase that loves the characters for their depth fangasm over one that has less than any character played by Christen Steward.
It seems like nothing but a cheap, self-drawn remake of a joker card to me. Can't come up with something funny? Put in the derpy one in... bitches love the derpy one.
(I prefer the self-aware Derpy, you know, the one that actually cares about her sight and is saving up to an eye surgery, wears glasses, regularly visits Redheart for vision-check... Haven't heard this one? Possibly because I am the only one with this headcanon.)

When I first got into the fandom somebody wrote a fanfiction where she was Rainbow Dash's childhood friend from the grade above her in school. One day they dared fly into a big storm, and Ditzy wound up crashing through a building. Complete memory loss, torn muscles in her eye, not retarded but... not the same pony any longer. The story itself was written poorly, but the story it told moved me enough that it didn't matter.
Once something like that gets into your head, it's not easy to just forget it. So Derpy will always and forever be Ditzy Doo to me, and none of the Flanderized characteristics ascribed by the rest of the fandom will stick. Muffins? Fine, but not to excess.
Season four is the best season overall, in my not-so-firm opinion. In terms of animation it's definitely the best, period. Unfortunately, "Daring Don't" is the only episode of MLP that I've ever hated. Holy crap was it bad. But if you just pretend it's all a fanfiction written by Dash, it almost works. The other episodes of the season are all solid.
