Here's what happened to me:
Friendship is Magic? I guess that was one of the older MLP series (Note: I had only heard the title at this point). Whatever. Wait a second, what's with all these ponies on deviantart? They seem to be increasing, too. How odd. Ah well, time to read my favorite webcomic- what?! Ponies are here too?! Okay, what the heck is going on?

Oh, it's actually a newer series? Okay... wait, LAUREN FAUST developed it? I loved both Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends! And this show is in that same spirit too? Uh.... um...

Okay, enough is enough. I need to actually see the show at this point. *starts watching* ...Okay, this is painless so far. I mean, it's clearly designed and written for a younger audience, but not in a "talking down" sort of way. I could see more of this.
*Lance ends up marathoning the entire first season, and promptly joins everyone else in waiting for season 2.*

Yeah, mine was the same, except I saw it once in on TV Tropes and then a friend of mine showed me the opening sequence (which I recoiled from), and then he showed me a part of Pony.MOV (the prom scene and maybe the Shed song, which he kept saying was Cupcakes)
