Description
Just a doodle I did on the back of a Chemistry paper last year that became a bit more time-consuming than I had intended it to be.This guy's an osprey-pirate, and my original character (although he doesn't have a name yet), so no takey!
Anyway, I love ospreys. They are awesome birds. They have polarized vision so they can see through the glare on the water when they're hunting for fish. They have rotate-able toes. And a few years ago, I saw an osprey fall into a pond after it had grabbed a fish too big to carry. It was too wet to fly, and the fish was too heavy to lift, so it used its wings to *dog-paddle* over to the bank, and--still holding onto that fish!--climbed out, stood over its prize, and hissed at me! Incredible! (I'm a chronic raptor geek, just warning you...)
I might move this to scraps later, or I might color it if I have the time. Let me know what you think.
Enjoy!

Aww!! Thats so cute! What a greedy lil' osprey
An osprey pirate is a pretty brilliant idea! What do you think other fish-eating raptors would be? Would a bald eagle be an admiral of the British royal navy?

Possibly! I can see one in uniform... I'm fond of the Stellar's Sea Eagle as maybe a viking, they're so big and imposing...plus they have that giant yellow bill...
I also really love the idea of a jaegar pirate, that's kinda what they are anyway...

I want an albatross in there somewhere too, and a tropicbird--they're so teeny and white and sharp-looking!--and maybe a tern. And lots and lots of seagulls.
