Description
So I feel a little nervous posting this piece as it happens to be a tribute to a comic made waaaaaay back from my childhood by the Master of Macabre himself Gahan Wilson, and I sent him notice quite a while back that I'd like to post this (I hope he doesn't send goblins to my doorstep!).The original work I based this on can be seen here: [link]
Also, go check out Gahan Wilson's site so that you may be edumacated: [link]
And now to talk about the piece itself: "I Paint What I See" was meant to be a work satirizing artists and their perception of the world, so what better artist to mock than Relm? It seems like I still haven't kicked the FFVI fanart habit, and when I dusted off my Gahan Wilson books, she was the first to come to mind when I saw the original. As for Gao, he just seemed like the appropriate replacement for the child to observe what Relm has concocted on her canvas. The colors are meant to be flat like the way they're printed in Sunday comic strips, but I shaded the canvas to draw your attention to it. I also left the background blank and vast to emphasize surrealism...but enough artistic goo talk!
Relm and Gao belong to Square-Enix.
The title, concept, and joke "I Paint What I See" belong to Gahan Wilson. Please don't sue!!

I recall that gag. It also reminds me of a minor Lovecraft story "From Beyond" where by pineal body stimulation, one can see THINGS from between the known dimensions. One dangerous side-effect - they can now see YOU !
The film actually used the entire original story in the opening scene which ends with the death of the mad scientist Tillinghast . The police let the visitor go, but have chosen to ignore the fact that not a trace of the servants that the monsters from beyond grabbed, was ever found...

heh heh, I think many tend to relate to Gao when it comes to art or the macabre
