Bio:
The Pioneer Class Cruiser is one of the mighty vessels making up the backbone of Humanity's Navy: the E.C.C (Earth and Colony Command). Acting as the premier exploration vessel, and protector of Earth and her territories, the Pioneers are the pinnacle of human engineering; replacing the older Conestoga Class Cruisers in patrol duties, deep space exploration and research, and gallantly charging headlong into harm's way. As is often the case, energy is the name of the game in these naval behemoths, opting to limit the use of artificial gravity in favor of rotating crew domes and engineering compartments in order to spare more power for their defenses and firepower. While humanity has cracked the key to faster than light travel, as many other species have, the energy required is no small order, ensuring that the design bureau has made every last volt count, and learned every lesson they could from the Conestoga Classes.

The forward main guns use massive magnetically accelerated explosive shells capable of more than standing up to the significantly more advanced vessels of the various unaligned species outside of the UCASC, should they ever run afoul of each other. Each smaller RAIL System, located in small armored slats along the hull, is powered by a miniature FTL Engine, capable of generating strong enough magnetic forces to rival smaller naval vehicles' main guns, and in the event of an emergency, these cores can be used as a replacement Drive Core long enough to allow a Pioneer to limp home, if needed. While trailing in the Pan-Galactic Standard, humanity is still an able bodied contender, capable of protecting itself, and in form with ancient Earth's ideals and practice, rendering aid to any who sound the call.

At 600 Meters in length, a crew of 1400 Officers, and sporting a comfortable cruising speed of Drive Factor 7, with three hangars, an emergency release of the vessel's Main Rotor allowing the Engine Compartment to break away as an Emergency vehicle, an enormous selection of probes, auxiliary craft, sensor suites, hospitals, research facilities, and diverse weapon systems, paired with an easily refurnished and refit modular design, the Pioneer comfortably sits within the UCASC Council's imposed Battle Power (BP) limit for each species and their stellar defenses forces, with room to spare as the design board continually improves the Pioneers and Conestogas.

In true E.C.C Fashion, the Pioneer class upholds the naming conventions of their Battleships/Heavy Cruisers, which are named after famous composers such as Bach, Mozart, Chopin, etc, with each modern class named after types of Wagon, while earlier models pertained to exploration, keeping humanity from forgetting its curious and adventurous spirit. Thus far the linage has progress as listed below.
• Pioneer (current)
• Conestoga (previous)
• Vardo, Telega, Tachanka (obsolete)
• Surrey, Charabanc, Frontier
• Chariot
• Nomad, Wayfarer, and Traveler (earliest)
There are currently 28 Pioneers in active service, with another batch of 8 planned and/or beginning construction by next year, increased by rush order from the original 4. Civilian markets are proposed to see the first Pioneer enter decommissioning-to-auction within 130 years, pending life-expectancy increases from future and proposed upgrades.
