Description

A personal 3D DMP I have been working on. Redshift + Breakdown. Redshift crushed through 3 billion polys and several 8k textures at 1080p like butter. Started this a while back and finally got around to finishing it between work.

Originally was just a test to see how MASH and Redshift would work out for scattering and 3D Digital Matte Painting but I ended up just developing it further. Rendered around 7min a frame on dual 980ti.

Used World Machine for the initial Terrain mesh and texture/mask maps which I took into Mudbox for further sculpting. Eventually exported a low poly Mesh for Maya which I could subdivide and bring the detail back in with the mudbox displacement maps. Used Mari for some texture work and projection painting and wrapped it all up in Nuke. Water was made with a single aaOcean Vector Displacement map which I added subtle movement to using an idistort node in Nuke. Sky dome was painted in Photoshop.

This might be a bit late but i'm really cracking my head trying to figure out the redshiftdisplacement node scale & the max. displacement scale on the physical plane which i'm using to displace. no matter how i adjust it looks weird. and wold machine meshes are HUGE!!! so i have to go the displacement route but just hard to figure out the scale in real world units.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Cheers!
