Description
This is concept art for my upcoming comic "The 3 Not-So-Princesses".Basically, this is what the girls will wear when they're not inside their shared apartment, and since Rothingham (yes, that's very likely going to be the name of the city) isn't exactly known for it's pleasant climate, it's going to be quite necessary.
Even if I say so myself, I really like how the coats really fit the characters, and I even tried to maintain their color coding. Daisy obviously needs something that allows her to move freely. Rosalina is the most girly type and even wears what I call a "student scarf". And Peach just doesn't care anymore and wears an old raincoat that she bought for 500 Credits at the local thrift store.

Ligt er natuurlijk aan wat je verstaat onder "slecht", als je hebt over "moe, versleten en depressief", dan is dat zeker het geval :]
Het script voor de strip is bijna klaar. Als je dit leuk vindt, dan denk ik dat je de strip erg leuk gaat vinden.

In actuality, all fiction uses tropes. To write fiction without tropes is simply impossible. All that TVtropes does is give tropes a name in order to categorize fiction in various media.
But yes, there's a whole bunch of tropes the comic will encompass, such as Crapsack World, the Rule of Cool and Darker and Edgier.

By now I know you have a tendency to take things seriously, so I'll be brief.
Yes, I know smoking is deadly, yes, my grandpa likely died because of a life of smoking, yes, I don't smoke except for a nice cigar on new years.
But in T3NSP, Daisy smokes. Why? Because there's the Rule of Cool .

Dat is me inmiddels erg duidelijk geworden. Ergens begrijp ik 't, maar wanneer men van elk ding een moreel vraagstuk maakt wordt 't behoorlijk irritant.
Ben overigens benieuwd hoe hij dadelijk op de strip reageert, er zitten toch best wel pittige stukjes in (en daarmee bedoel ik niet het typische "Oooh, Luigi en Daisy bevinden zich binnen een straal van 3 meter van elkaar").

Oh, ik zit er niet echt mee, ik discussieer graag met mensen, houdt me scherp enzo. Zolang het maar niet te ver gaat. Bij hem weet ik inmiddels dat je er niet al te ver op in moet gaan, omdat 't vaak toch nergens over gaat.
Anyways, T3NSP had eind deze maand moeten beginnen, maar een struikelblok in 't script en een grote commission die ik heb binnengesleept heeft het allemaal wat vertraagd. Als 't allemaal 'n beetje meezit heb ik 't script deze maand af en kan ik in februari beginnen met de pagina's.

That's what you think, that's what I think, we made the choice not to smoke, hooray to us.
But here's the thing, when creating a character (or in this case, an alternative interpretation of a character in an alternative setting), one of the common mistakes is to make them perfect. Perfect characters are boring, perfect characters belong in a government-funded PSAs. Just look at the monstrosity that is Cartoon All Stars to the Rescue . What makes a good character is a flawed character.
In T3NSP, Daisy smokes because she's flawed, just like everyone else. Daisy doesn't have any self restraint and lives her life in search of constant pleasures in a world that doesn't care about her. Rosalina is too naive for the world she lives in and lacks the competitiveness to get what she wants in life. And Peach, Peach longs for a life she cannot have, a life of luxury and praise. By not realizing what she does have, such as her health, her belongings and her caring room mates, she creates her own depression.

Thank you, that's actually quite a compliment. For a moment I was afraid I wrote all that for nothing (well, not really, it was actually a nice test for the characters).
