While the Orange Lantern Corp started off being a nice change from the other corps, I now think it isn’t that special or entertaining anymore. Sure the idea of a one man Corp is interesting, but when you consider that Larfleeze is the only one who can do things like make constructs or make decisions it gets a bit boring over time. Then there are things like without his power battery, Larfleeze is just your average lantern with limited power, and how his only unique lantern power is making copies of beings his constructs have eaten, which to my knowledge was only seen being used twice. Also with him being the only Orange Lantern, there is only so much they can do with that since Larfleeze can’t be everywhere at once.

That’s why I’ve made some changes for the Orange Lantern Corp in the CommentVerse.

The first is that after several big events involving the other Lantern Corps, I would have there be an event where something, or SOMEONE, causes the inactive orange lantern rings to activate and seek out bearers, much to Larfleeze and the other lanterns dismay. I vaguely remember a storyline where Larfleeze left his cave to go on adventures, so I can see that being the opportunity to make this event happen.

This leads to a “War of the Orange Lanterns” storyline where (most) of the orange lanterns go on a greed spree trying to get what they want most, eventually colliding with each other when they realize Larfleeze has the only NATURAL power source for their rings. The event ends with most of the rings being collected, but some wielders and rings slip through the cracks, leading to future stories involving other orange lanterns besides Larfleeze.

During this event we can learn that while the wielders of an orange ring are avarice, it doesn’t mean they are all on the same level of avarice as Larfleeze, as he is a special case. We will see that some wielders only care about one unique thing or can control their avarice to certain degrees and use their ring for good.

Glomulus would get his own ring, as there was a plotline where Glomulus became sentient enough that he no longer had to follow Larfleeze’s commands but that seemed to have been scrapped so I’m bringing it back in the CommentVerse, and I think having his own ring could help Glom become more sentient and do more.
We have also gotten all kinds of bizarre ring bearers before, so a construct with its own ring would be a nice addition to that list. It would also allow him to hang out with people like Kyle Rayner, who he considers to be his best friend, and Miri Riam, who he thinks is pretty.

Being an orange lantern also comes with more powers.

Previously I said Larfleeze’s battery is the only natural way for an orange lantern to charge their ring, but there are other ways, some of which can be dark. Basically an orange lantern can use any power source to recharge their ring like regular electricity, magical energies, or just leeching off other lantern rings. If an orange lantern is desperate, they can charge their ring by using the life force of living beings like plants, animals, and sentient races.

The last part plays off the next power as similar to Parasite or Marvel’s Rogue, an orange lantern can temporarily copy the powers of other beings. It’s kind of like a dark parallel of how the Purple Tribe (what I call the Indigo Tribe in the CommentVerse) can copy the powers of other lanterns, but it plays off the Avarice vibe better. Of course the powers they get are only temporary and copying a person’s power doesn’t weaken the source (that much) or kill them. Larfleeze can’t use this power as he doesn’t truly understand it enough to use it properly, since he is an idiot.
