Some time ago I rediscovered the Chaotic franchise and that the creator of it is thinking about bringing it back one day. Though I wasn’t a big Chaotic fan back then (I was more into Yugioh) it did have a good premise and lore, heck the card game reminded me of Yugioh a bit, and it would be interesting to see it come back and I wanted to bring up some ideas for a reboot.

First are just some ideas related to the card game. Just like most popular card games, I want to suggest bringing the game back as video game of some kind, either as a mobile app similar to Yugioh Duel Links with a pinch of Pokémon GO or something similar to modern day Pokémon video games where you play as a character and can free roam Perim and Chaotic where you can get scans, trade with NPCs, and either battle people or go on quest to help the Creatures of Perim.

Now for the actual card game as I think some minor changes to the game mechanics could possibly make the game, and in turn the series, more fun than before.

Out of all the tribes in the franchise, the Mipedian and Danian tribes were the least interesting as while the other tribes had Creatures of all shapes and sizes, most Mipedians and Danians have very similar appearances. That’s why I think for the game, the main 4 tribes should be changed to kingdoms with various kinds of tribes that live in each kingdom. What I mean is for the Mipedian kingdom, have one tribe consist of dinosaur like Creatures and one consisting of more unique reptiles like a chameleon and snakes. For Danians just make them all kinds of insects and spiders. This would mean calling the ant Danians something else and I think Mandiblors would be fitting, since that word was used a lot in their society. They could have a rivalry with another Danian tribe that have bee like appearances.

Another change for the game is giving the Overworld and Underworld Creatures a shared special ability as I always found it odd that the Mipedians and Danians in the original all seem to share one common skill (like invisibility and hive) but the others didn’t, but I bet that could be fixed in a reboot. One example I have is Overworlders having higher mugic ability or a wider range of mugic effects (fitting since they have Najarin and a Mugic school according to the show) while Underworlders have more unique Battlegear which is again fitting since they did make the most interesting Battlegear in the show like the giant robot. I also want to throw out the idea of there being more kingdoms later introduced in the series, as I still remember how amazing the M’arrillians were when they were introduced. Maybe there could be a group of Creatures that don’t ally with any one kingdom and maybe as a result they could use all kinds of Battlegear, Mugic, etc.

However the biggest changes that need to happen is related to the show.

Though the show had dramatic moments, all the danger the human characters went through didn’t really matter when you remember that they are just digital versions of the characters. The only real consequences of them getting hurt or worse would just result in there real life versions never being able to play Chaotic online again with there original online accounts, which would still be bad but still. That’s why I think in a reboot when a Chaotic character gets good enough, they get their own scanner which physically teleports them to Chaotic, a hub dimension between Earth and Perim. Not only does it also more drama, but it also plays a big part for another change for the series but more on that later.

It would also be nice to see more human characters interacting with the main characters outside of drome matches, who could later join Tom and the others when more kingdoms are introduced. One idea for a character is a Chaotic newbie who somehow got to Chaotic by inheriting his brother’s/father’s scanner and he is taught how to play Chaotic where he specializes in using a deck with all kinds of Creatures from various kingdoms.

If not then I would like to see more development for the existing characters, Sarah being a big example as all I remember about her besides the fact that she was a Danian fan, was that she was the girl of the group who would sometimes get annoyed by the boy’s antics. Heck she rarely had matches in the show, which is why she needs something that makes her stick out more in a new show. One idea is that the reason she loves the Danian kingdom, is that one of her parents is a Entomologist. Another idea related to her (and Peyton) is they she also befriends one of the leaders of a Kingdom, in this case she befriends the princess of the Mandiblor tribe since Sarah helps her escape from her princess duties and explore Perim in exchange for scans. I also always thought she and Peyton had a romantic thing going one, which maybe should happen in the reboot? It would also be nice to see the Code Masters (which I would rename to Chaotic Masters) in the reboot as they never appeared much. I would be nice to see them interacting with the main characters after seeing them put the needs of the people of Perim first, which lets them trust them enough to tell Tom and the others important things.

We also learn not only about the origins of the Chaotic Masters but the origins of Chaotic as well though them. It turns out during the dawn of man, dimensional anomalies would allow Creatures from Perim to go to Earth where they would cause chaos and inspire the monsters of various mythologies and folklore. To combat this threat, a group of monster fighters were formed to combat the Creatures of Perim and with the aid of a few nicer Creatures ( such as Najarin and Chaor/ Maxxor’s ancestors to name a few) they were able to banish the Creatures and their leaders back to Perim before the dimensional anomalies finally ended naturally. Though the threat was gone, it was prophesied that the Creatures would return to attack Earth one day, so the monster fighters started an organization to protect the world from these threats, as occasionally a portal from Perim would allow a Creature or two to end up on Earth. Eventually the human organization would discover Chaotic while testing some Perim technology to control the anomalies and how it not only allowed them to enter the world of Perim where they were able to study the Creatures and their abilities and weaponry, but also realize that the data they collected could manifest in Chaotic, which allowed them to test and train for when the Creatures of Perim ever did return, as by then Creatures weren’t as bad but they wanted to keep an eye out. This resulted in them making the game Chaotic, and after realizing they needed more help in gathering data, they made the game public to find worthy recruits that could help them in exchange for having fun. A bit messed up yes but what show isn't.

As for the show’s story, it would be a lot like the original with episodes mainly about the main humans battling players and going on adventures in Perim while also saving it from evil, but with more lore and unique episodes like one could have H’earring ends up on Earth due to an anomaly and Kaz has to get him back before anyone notices, more episodes about the lives of the Creatures of Perim without the main human cast being in the episode, and season 1 having hints that a Creature is a M’arrilian in disguised who waited thousands of years for a specific celestial event that eventually allows him to free his people, which starts the season 2 M’arrillian Invasion arc. I do see a time traveling story being in there but it would be a one time thing in an arc where after a new mugic goes wrong, Tom and other humans and their Creature friends/enemies go back in time and learn the origins of Perim and see the ancestors of their friends while preventing history from changing.

Season 3 would also be the last season but it would finally answer some big things that the original season 3 never did. For one I see the kingdoms still being at peace after teaming up to defeat the M’arrillians, with some minor fights here and there but we do see some new friendships (and maybe even romances) come from it and we can get episodes like Najarin reuniting with his son who is indeed Rhaden, Maxxor honoring Chaor’s ancestor Kiru which could anger some Overworlders a bit, and Creatures and Humans finding a way to turn Raznus back into a Overworlder. Sadly things slowly go back to normal as thanks to the war, new clues about the Cothica are discovered and eventually everyone tries to get their hands on it. When it is finally discovered, its horrible truth is revealed as it isn’t a power source but a prison meant to hold in one of the most powerful and evil Creatures to ever exist in Perim. The Creature (which I call Typhon) is a giant who led the attacks on Earth thousands of years ago until he was sent back to Perim where the Creatures of that time imprisoned him with a mix of Mugic from all the kingdoms (which as a byproduct created Chaotic) but he vowed that when he escaped would destroy Perim AND Earth which starts to happen as he opens a portal and his army of clay minions start attacking. Of course after some struggles the Chaotic Master, Creatures of Perim, and humans are able to destroy Typhon once and for all. The series ends with a flash forward where humans and Creatures of Perim co-exist and Tom and the others have become part of the next generation of Chaotic Masters but they still have fun playing Chaotic which has become a great means for the Creatures of Perim to settling things without having to go to war.

This went on longer than I thought but that’s just because a return could do SO MUCH for the franchise. Would you like to see Chaotic return one day and what would you want to see happen in it?
