Description
This is part 5 of my ongoing Pony comic.Princess Celestia has magically transformed Twilight Sparkle into an Earth Pony, after deciding that she has become too dependent on her magic. There have been some tears, some tantrums, and some hugging, too.
Now, Twilight has set out to find somepony to help her in her quest to find out how Earth Ponies do things without magic.

This page was created in Inkscape and Photoshop. Most of the foreground characters were scratch drawn for this page, or for previous pages.
I've used gameguy001 's Sweet-Apple-Acres as a background for all frames (gameguy001.deviantart.com/art/… ). Though I modified it slightly as I wanted to put a shadow in for the fence.
Applejack's Cutie Mark was created by BlackGryph0n (blackgryph0n.deviantart.com/ar… ).
Apple Bloom from Frame 3 is based on Saveman71's saveman71.deviantart.com/art/A… The color and the style didn't match my own color\style. Particularly the line thicknesses, so I created my own vector from scratch, using it as template.
Twilight's cloak was scratch drawn, but it is based on Trixie's cape. I used Why485's Pony Fashion Study (why485.deviantart.com/art/Pony… ) as a guide, but altered the decorations and added a hood to turn the cape into a cloak. It was inspired by Twilight Sparkle's dress from The Best Night Ever.
The Picture of Celestia in Frame 4 is from the show.

Not having magic is not quite like loosing your primary sense. It's more like tying one hoof behind her back. She can still do all of the normal everyday things, but they will take a little longer.
Twilight is using magic because it's become a habit, more than anything else.

In a way, yes, but I probably wouldn't have had all those comments if I'd made the pages as long as I'd originally planned, but it was taking too long. So I had to cut some of the explanation out.
Really, though, this page is a lead up to the next page. I had to make Applejack angry at something on this page to make her anger on the next page more plausible, as it is going to be a little out of character for the show. I'm going to cover an issue that not on the show as it's for kids.

Hmm, good comic. I'm just not sure Applejack would be so quick to judge Celestia negatively like that. Would she really react that way against the country's royal ruler? Also, Twilight has done a lot of crying; more than I would have expected from her. Twilight is no crybaby in the show.
Nevertheless, great work on the backgrounds and your ability to capture the look of the show. I look forward to what Applejack has to teach her.

The big thing that I got from readers when I produced page 1 was that people were angry with Celestia. They thought that she was being cruel.
This page is here to set the scene for page 6. Which is where I'm going to put a twist into the story. I needed her to already be angry before the start of page 6.

Applejack tends to get a little angrier than the rest of the character. She's probably raised her voice more than the rest of the characters combined. Just look at her reaction in Fall Weather Friends, and when she was quarreling with Rarity on the sleepover episode. Or when she got rilled up with the Buffalo over the settler pony's orchard.

Yeah but thats the thing, she didn't know either Rarity or the Buffalo well enough at the time too truly sympathize with them. And while Celestia does tend to be rather mysterious. It shouldn't be a mystery to any pony that she is a compasionate and certainly-not-spoiled princess and anything she does is done with good reason. It's not like Applejack is an unreasonale hick with a short fuse.

Applejack has a lot of pride. Out of all of the mane characters, she is probably the most straight laced and upright. She doesn't stand for any nonsense from anypony. Or anypony disrespecting anything.
I needed an angry Earth Pony for page 6, and I couldn't use Pinkie or Big Mac as their personalities didn't fit. So I used Applejack.

I know. We had a little conversation about that almost two months ago when you released Part 3. And yesterday I talked with Ventious about that, too. Maybe you know him. Sadness is indeed an essential part of the whole thing. It's even in the show. So why not elaborate that a bit. And I agree with you that emotions like this only contribute to their characters, making them who we know and love. And sometimes, sadness can be quite relieving as well, though that sounds rather strange.

Nice, more Applejack. Somehow my first thought was that she might receive Twilight's magic and goes nuts... Maybe this idea comes from that other comic series. Anyway, now I'm even more awaiting. Any idea whether you'll finish it this month?
