EDIT: YAY, EQD www.equestriadaily.com/2015/11… .At last, the missing pages - This week I'm uploading page 72, which I skipped over to allow my Nightmare Night comic to be uploaded on Halloween.

Yes, it's another potty joke, but it does cover a slightly more serious topic. All be it in a silly way.
When Twilight lost her magic, she faced two challenges. The first was the issue of her self identity, but the other was the issue of utility. For most of her life Twilight has been able to levitate things, now she can't. She's having to find another way of doing everything from cleaning her home to cleaning herself using her mouth and her hooves.
If you have a friend or relative who is a veteran, and who came back from Iraq\Afghanistan (or even Vietnam) with a serious injury, you'll know what I mean. Even simple things like tying shoelaces is much more difficult for somebody with the use of only one hand.
Let alone buttoning up a shirt, or pulling on a pair of pants, zipping the fly, and doing up a belt.
The Cake's reaction is also a typical reaction. I've made the topic a little silly, but you get a similar level of awkwardness when it's an injured friend or relative. People dance around the issue, or pretend that they don't notice. Do you offer to help and risk upsetting or embarrassing them, or do you sit outside and pretend that you can't hear them struggling?

Wow, I'm actually amazed at how many people are thinking this deeply over a potty joke.
Really I hadn't considered most of this when I wrote the comic, I just wanted to put in a "does she know about the Bidet" type joke, and that was it.

I suspect it's different, though, if what the person has lost is something you never had. There's much less risk of being annoying and condescending when you're speaking as an equal, on the basis of how you've always had to do things. And from what I've seen, people who don't worry about sounding condescending are quite happy to offer unsolicited help even to complete strangers, so evidently there's no other reason one would hold back.

This bugged me half the night, so I'm going to ask what I should have asked *before* I shut down:
Are you implying she's using her mouth to wipe? How do you explain pt 71, where Mr. Cake asks her about the cake they couldn't sell "from the time you forgot to wash your hooves after using the little fillies room"? How is it she didn't learn the proper cleansing technique back at Applejack's? For that matter, with her incredibly curiosity, why didn't she look it up when she first lost her magic? Or, having had sleepovers at her non-unicorn pals houses, surely noticed features that would likely be common knowledge to them

I'm sorry if I'm sounding nit-picky and mean, but I just feel this issue should have come up far sooner, seeing as she's been an Earther for quite some time now.

Mrs Cakes is imagining that she's using her mouth, but I don't think that Twilight could reach round that far. She's not known for her flexibility.
She's probably using her hooves, but badly, and is getting them "messy".
I'd imagine that the Bidet in Ponyville don't have a button since they don't have electric motors. They probably have a tap somewhere.
