Yeah, there was a ridiculous amount of wind that day and I didn't want it to wreak the wig. Otherwise, I would have been outdoors.

For the sort of location shoot I'd love to see this cosplay in, it would have to be a really wooded area, not just out side the convention area. Some large boulders near some water and trees would be nice, especially if you could shoot from off shore. A shoot like that would take a lot of preliminary organization and scouting but I think it would be worth the trouble. Maybe if you wanted to push the gender bending even further, get a male Kagome but that might be too predictable.
