These colorful birds are considered true parrots. The juveniles of this species grow up with a black beak that eventually turn orange when they reach adulthood. There is very little sexual dimorphism between the males and the females as they look identical to one another to the human eye. In order to determine the sex of a rainbow lorikeet you would either need surgical sexing done by a vet or a DNA test done on one of their feathers.
