Description
This thing's been sitting on my hard drive for a while, so I decided it was time to post it.Originally, this creature started out as an assignment for my AP art class. I grew to love its design, so I decided to refine it, ink it, and color it so it at least looks somewhat natural.
(Yes, it only has three legs! It's a tripedal animal!)
Here's the specs:
Species: Triaph
Height: 18-22 hh (72 to 88" tall at the shoulder)
Weight: 1,000 - 1,500 lbs
Versions: Triped (pictured) and Quintaped
The Triaph lives in a very dark ecosystem; the planet it lives on has such dense cloud cover that the light rays from the nearest supernova can't penetrate the clouds. The flora and fauna have to create their own light instead via bio-luminescence.
Their unique build makes them very clumsy in any environment that isn't almost completely flat. They can, however, run at about 45 miles per hour on even terrain.
While base coat color varies among darker neutral colors, bioluminescent parts of the pelt can be any bright neon color in any geometric pattern (circles, triangles, rhombi, etc). Bioluminescent color is also carried into the skin in the ears, eyes, hooves, and mouth.
Triaph feature a highly-curved body type which better facilitates their springy gate. While the tail seems too thin and ill-equipped to help keep Triaph balanced, the vertebrae are actually very dense and allow for a wide range of motion.
The front leg on a tripedal triaph is thick-boned and has a slightly concave foreleg to minimize stress on the knee joint. The front foot is about two times larger than the back feet.

Triaph are mine!

This was one of my really old 'lolwhut r u doin' designs. Three legs and stuff. Not too practical but you see animals getting along on them just fine all the time~
Thank you very much! >u<

May I use this in a non profit item? However, if it does profit you will get credit?

Well, while I do appreciate your interest in this piece, I'm going to decline. Thanks for the interest, though.

Disappointing, however if you will, tell me of any other artists with similar concepts, not particularly similar to yours, but in the sense of fictional yet Sci-Fi?

It's a very strange design but I'm happy to hear that everybody likes it so much.

Tripedal glow in the dark animals are all the rage, in space.
The design is really good, and the information is really thoughtful. But its also a little lulzy, three legs and can go as fast as a Robin Reliant? XDD

Well, of course. Who wouldn't want their very own glow-in-the-dark animal? :'D
I've been experimenting with strange animal anatomy recently and three legs is pretty absurd, so I'm happy with the design. They can run just about as fast as a thoroughbred can in short bursts.
... what's a Robin Reliant? owO;;

People who don't want to be seen?
One leg is more absurd, or is that to weird for you? ._.
Its a three wheeled car famous for rolling over. [link] This is a demonstration of that...
I think I did the name the wrong way round. XDD

How neat! And truly original; I never would have thought of a creature like this being tripedal. And the description is detailed to the point of where I could believe it was taken from a feild guide of alien fauna.
