Um this might sound stupid, but due to the colouring the blade coming out of the things mouth looks like it is backwards. As in the actual cutting part is the lighter area.
...is that supposed to be like that, honestly I don't know the character so I'm asking.

i see.. i've noticed that layering is easier than trying to blend everything together but, it still takes a long time for bigger images with lots of things going on.
i still have a lot to learn.
