i drewed the tree then vecored the green part then used photoshop to texturfy it.
but what should the background be?

Hmm...I think it is fine as it is. Adding a background would ruin the really surreal abstract quality. The twisting colors against the white really gives a kind of glare to it. Well done

Love it. The texture up by the limbs and the trunk is what gets me. As for a background, in my opinion, i think you should keep it the way it is.

I want to say 'thank you', this drawing helped me as an inspiration when writing my story. I really like the simplistic design and the colours you used.
I know it's been said many times, but it looks very good on the white background, I don't think it would be better with some colours or patterns instead.

I really love this one, it simply has the look of a pure, surrealistic tree.
But in fact it also looks a bit like a mutated hand clinging to a green cottonwool ball - But more like a tree.
