Calex himself stays a kitten forever, never aging past six and a half. If he bites someone, on the full moon they also turn into a kitten, no older than six and a half in human terms. But after the full moon passes they revert to their normal age/species.
This does mean if they never got the curse cured, they could technically learn to revert to kitten form at will and stay that young forever though.
