Hmm, I dunno about it being the reed's fault. xD But let's say it is anyway.
I played for a good deal of marching band season this year with a pretty jacked up bari reed and was very un-squeaky. (Wish I could say the same for the whole section on the latter count...)

I would say no to annoying squeaking reeds in concert bands and marching bands as well.

Say no to accidently cracking your reed when marching.

That happened to me while playing in the stand at a football game.

ugh I hate it when you buy a pack of reeds and half of them squeak cos they are too hard and you have to through them away.... It's such a waste especially if the reeds are expensive (baritone saxophone reeds cost £5 each for certain makes the ones I play are £4 each, anything lower than that is utter crap XD)

always squeaked when i play the 3rd octave G on my clarinet

i think the reed needs to be bitten when playing the 3rd octave

The 3rd octave G is the highest note on Bb Clarinet
, i don't have any other way other than bite the reed, the tone's sounds 3rd octave G, very high, and sounds almost like a squeak

did you received my note?

Squeaky reeds are only good if it happens in a hilarious part of music, and your director doesn't decapitate your by your thumbs and then hand you upside-down to bleed to death.

Muhaha! I don't have to deal with nasty reeds because I play flute and trumpet!
I've tried sax, but I didn't like the reed-y feeling much.

In my band, it's the squeaky reeds player's fault, even though I'm to blame sometimes. On Saturday, we had a concert and played Amazing Grace. A clarinet player (will not mention names *coughNikcough*)kept squeaking. Even right at the end AND we were being judged.

reeds should be fitted with shocking capabilities, so if they squeak, the reed-player will get shocked. so they will develop anti-squeak protection!
welllllll....
except if the reed-player is playing a walmart special clarinet that is always epic fail... heh heh heh.

as they should XD
for that reason, they bought my brother a red clarinet, which was handed down to me. so i have a black one missing 3 pads and a red one that smells like metal and is missing 4 pads XD

Do clarinets play without pads?

they can make noise lol
they can't really play though XD

it cost $50 just to learn my tenor sax needs a complete overhaul with every pad since he was taken care of for 45 years 0_0

i'm going to wait until this summer before fixing my clarinets for college next year. hopefully my professor will understand that they are 'special ed'.

walmart needs to just stop making things in china lol, the end!
