Your point is very, very valid. To tell you the truth, I had many doubts when I did Pocahontas and Jasmine (one of the things I love about them -besides the being awesome part- is the darker skin).
There are as many versions of vampires as there are authors, and when I did this I tried to go with the "theory" that says vampires get lighter when turned, so I tried to make them a bit paler and still keep them on the range of their original skin tone. The result was some sort of greenish weirdness that was even worse.
But yes, you are absolutely right and as a matter of fact, now it bothers me to see her so pale (nothing like a few years distance and healthy critisism to improve a piece). I will un-pale her in the -hopefully near- future, that's a promise

Pocahontas is a princess in a way. Her dad's the cheif of their tribe. Whoever said she isnt is wrong.

Great work! You do need brighter orange and yellow to blend with black in the river in order to make lava.
Also, Pocahontas IS a princess and always was.

Oh my god im soooo glad you did pocahontas as a princess. So many people overlook the fact that she is ACTUALLY a princess but never noted as one. While people like Alice and Mulan(although i LOVE those characters) get Prncess credit while actually in no way being royalty. Just wanted to show my thanks, great work and I love your dark princesses^^*

A chief's daughter is not a princess, and his son is not a prince. Princes and princesses only exist in monarchies. Native cultures do not have monarchies. And no, a chief is not like a king, either. It's not even close to the same thing.
The son or daughter of a chief is simply the chief's child, just like the children of the U.S. President are just the President's children.
Disney does not get to dictate the definition of a princess, and neither do Disney fans who can't be bothered to learn the difference. Pocahontas wouldn't have even known what a princess was.

That is awesome. This picture and your dark series are very well done. It's refreshing to see something besides straight copies of Disney animator's work. But, no. Pocahontas is not a Princess. Read a history book, or better yet, speak to some real Native people. There is no such thing as an "Indian Princess".

Saying Pocahontas is a princess is just a way to give her importance between all the other Disney girls. Pocahontas is one of the most beautiful (in every way) characters.. starting by the fact she actually existed (but as always, Disney changed some things), but no, she wasn't an actual princess and I know it... as I know it is impossible for a woman to sleep 100 years and wake up with a kiss, or to have a flying carpet (though it would be really cool), or to mantain conversations with a fish, take advices from a tree, etc. It's just a little fantasy, just a little magic, just thinking of Pocahontas as a princess is a way of putting her into a group she apparently is excluded of, just because she's as magical and amazing as the other girls.
Let's just say it's a nickname said with love, as for parents their little girls could be princesses.
But yet again, thank you for taking the time for pointing that up

um, actually, Pocahontas is a princess of sorts. she was the daughter of her father(der) who was cheif of her tribe clan thingy... so i guess in a way, she was a princess. btw, the river does look like blood.
