i took me awhile too, like one episode but i got the jest. when ever you can see the left eye it is Akito. know matter what it is Akito. If you can see the right eye it is always Agito and if you see both eyes during a fight, Agito is in control. like during the cube battle against a D-class which should really be an A-class he took off the eye patch and Agito was still there.
