Description
(Made with Heromachine 3, Pixlr, and Flamingtext)The Flying Fox is a name that has been passed down to different generations, even though each incarnation of the bat-themed vigilante have all been different from one another, they still have the same mission to protect the world from evil and to strike fear into the hearts of criminals!
From Left to Right:
The first Flying Fox was Bruce Cranston, Cranston was the son of billionaires and became an avid traveler with dreams to see the world. On one of his flights, the plane was caught in a dangerous storm that caused it to crash land into a forest in China. Bruce was the only survivor and stumbled through the woodlands before finding the secret city of Shambala. The monks who resided there let Bruce in and treated him as their own, teaching him everything they know in martial arts and illusions with the intention of making Bruce a weapon to fight against evil in his part of the world. After his training was finished, Bruce was released back into civilization where he was able to travel back to his home state of New York. He decided to use his family fortune to fund his double life, using his training for good use, Bruce created the persona of the Flying Fox. Basing his identity off of the bats who initially greeted him in Shambala, he armed himself with a grappling hook and his new skills of hypnotism to fight crime along with his aircraft he calls the Fang. A couple years later, he gained a sidekick in the form of Tim Grayson who became Wing. Grayson was the son of circus acrobats who were murdered by a mobster and taken to foster care under Bruce. Tim quickly discovered Bruce's double life and wanted to become his sidekick, after converting his old circus attire into a costume and fighting alongside the Flying Fox, Tim established himself as his partner in crime and battled together.
In 1942, the duo was invited to join the Justice Champions to serve alongside U.S. Soldiers in the war against the Axis. They agreed and became prominent members of the team and would fight against the powers of the Übermensch and his Nazi henchmen in secret missions, usually involving the villains attempting to gain higher powers or deadly weapons. When the war was over, the heroes returned home to continue their adventures with the Flying Fox and Wing being no exception.
In 1956, Bruce Cranston was unfortunately murdered by the villain known as Dr. Malice in a warehouse trap set up by him. A now grown up Tim was able to cover up the death of his foster dad by saying that it was a possible hitman that killed him in his sleep. In Bruce's will, he left all of his property and wealth to Tim. Tim believed that he should continue the Flying Fox legacy and quickly got his operations set back up with a new costume and sidekick in the form of the second Wing, his wife, Stephanie Grayson. Tim knew everything Bruce knew in terms of skill and intelligence, minus his illusion abilities because he lacked "the will power and mental sturdiness". Tim and his wife fought alongside each other for many years until Stephanie retired early due to being pregnant with their child. During all of this, he was able to convince the world that him and the previous Fox were the same person for over a decade and prided himself to being just as good as his mentor.
In 1969, the country was in a state of panic as it was being rampaged by heavily armed supervillains under the rule of recently elected president, Bill Dawn. The Guardian Society had contacted any remaining superheroes in the country to join their team and fight back. Tim was one of these people, flying the Fang straight to Washington where he and many other heroes confronted Dawn, now revealed to be Dr. Malice. While they were fighting, Dawn reveals that he was the one to kill the original Flying Fox and taunted the new one to kill him in revenge by handing him a gun. Tim almost took the shot, but threw the weapon away as he knew that he couldn't take another person's life, that isn't what Bruce would have wanted. Afterwards, Dawn was arrested for all of his crimes and the Guardian Society became bigger with all of it's new members.
A few years later, Tim trained his son to be the third Wing to assist his old man in crime fighting. Timothy John Grayson Jr. agreed and fought alongside his father as a duo. It was revealed later on the reason why was because Tim Sr. was becoming old and slower with his fighting and knew he needed a replacement for himself at some point. Junior was already eager to become a superhero after he found out his dad was one. By the 80s, Tim finally decided to retire and pass the mantle to his son.
The third Flying Fox, while still a good fighter like the ones before him, relied on gadgets and technology to fight crime. Going from the grappling hook to items such as shurikens, a hacking device, and an ear piece that patched to his father (which was Tim Sr.'s idea). He even created an armored car for himself as he never learned how to fly the Fang. Unlike his father, everybody suspected that this Flying Fox was not the same as the original as people started he was vastly different than the previous one and a witness account said that he spotted this Fox having blonde hair while the last one had black hair. Not to mention the upgraded tech. Tim fought for nearly twenty years and even found love while fighting as he later married a now reformed villain after an encounter with each other.
In the 2010s, a new Flying Fox arose in the form of Elisa Cain. While not connected to the Graysons or Cranstons, Elisa became the Flying Fox after the previous one was pronounced dead when he saved the city from a bomb by flying it towards the ocean. Elisa is the granddaughter of Francis Cain, better known as the antihero, Killswitch, and is an expert of CQC and marksmanship. She became inspired by the hero's sacrifice and figured that her training makes her a good candidate for a replacement. Crafting a homemade costume and "borrowing" a few of her grandfather's old equipment, she slowly but surely cemented herself as New York's new guardian.
The legacy of the Flying Fox is long and everlasting, with the spirit of the hero having inspired millions. No matter who is under the mask, it's the actions that define a person that truly makes them the Flying Fox!
Other Notes:
-It's hinted at that Bruce's illusion abilities are actually psychic in nature, but it's never confirmed.
-Tim Sr.'s cloak is the same exact one worn by Bruce while Tim Jr.'s costume is his father's with some alterations.
-Elisa's mask has night vision lens fastened on the eyes so she can see perfectly in the dark.
-The Flying Fox progressively used more tools and gadgets with each incarnation. Starting with only a grappling hook and some smoke bombs, Tim Sr. upgraded the old gun and carried with him other items such as a gas mask and a small knife. Tim Jr. gradually gained more weapons as he grew older and relied more on them then any other version.
-While Bruce and Tim were in Europe, Bruce had a web of followers he personally trained who kept New York safe in his absence, they became known as the Foxlings.
-Each version of the Flying Fox is based on different versions of Batman. The original=Golden Age Batman. Tim Grayson=60s Batman with a bit of Earth-2 Robin. Tim Junior= Michael Keaton and later Christian Bale. Elisa Cain is mostly original.
-Tim Sr. is the longest running Flying Fox at 33 years total and retiring at 63 years old.
-The "Foxmobile" is a vehicle owned by Tim Jr. It was armed with twin machine guns at the hood, near indestructible armored plating that would cover the car in defense mode. A jet turbine that would allow the car to go hundreds of miles per hour. Specially made bombs that release from the rear. And a smart computer system inside that connects to the base.
-Tim Jr.'s identity was revealed after he was killed in the explosion, with many people figuring out who the others were. But it is rumored that Tim might still be alive as a sighting of him was reported in a café in Paris.
