Description
Megaman – CastleFall
Premise- Following the final battle in Megaman three, Dr. Wiley collapsed his castle on top of himself, Megaman, and Dr. Light. Though Megaman tried to stop the roof from crushing them all, a minor servo malfunction caused him to lose his grip and the ceiling still fell. Though Wiley managed to escape, Dr. Light wast trapped down there for days, watching the life slowly leaving the body of his son. Eventually, Protoman, Roll and the rest managed to dig him out, but the time spent down there changed him, Dr. Light wanted only one thing, revenge.
After upgrading his other robots, Light went on the warpath hunting down and destroying all of Dr. Wiley’s bases until he ran him to ground. Wiley, however, might be a fool, but he wasn’t a complete idiot and quickly grabbed onto how badly things were going. Using an older model, he began work on a new robot that he was hoping might turn the tide, but his work came too slowly. Light got his revenge, but Wiley’s will lived on, an automated factory, well hidden and off the books, and they continued building, creating his ultimate robot, his final act of retribution, Bass-U.
Main Story- Some twenty years after the death of Dr. Wiley, Bass awakens in the underground base. Knowing only his mission, to hunt down and kill Dr. Light, he used the remaining power to locate his quarry and made his way to Arcadia where he found the world very different from what he expected. Dr. Light had, essentially, conquered the world and turned it into a peaceful, totalitarian utopia. While attempting to infiltrate the city, he is beset on all sides by its protectors, including the upgraded Protoman. Blindsided and nearly beaten to death, he is only rescued from the authorities by a small contingent of rebels called Penumbra.
Relocated to their underground base, he is given a brief, abridged version of how Dr. Light overthrew most world governments before being forcibly conscripted into their service (they strap a bomb to his arm and will kill him if he refuses). Bass is given optional training (various obstacles courses and sparring matches), but quickly forced out the door to begin dismantling Dr. Light’s regime. One by one, he fells the generals who stand as Light’s greatest assets and supporters before finally turning his attention to Dr. Light himself.
Finale- Disabling Dr. Light’s army, as well as the city’s infrastructure, Bass then assaults the main tower where Dr. Light had been holed up. Based on actions taken in the game, various encounters will be either altered or avoided entirely (if Bass chooses to kill Dr. Light’s generals then he will encounter them resurrected and Frankensteined back together during the boss rush, however, if he let them live, he will instead face off against members of Penumbra who are threatening to blow the bomb they planted on him) but, eventually he makes his way to top and faces off against Dr. Light. After a long and protracted battle, Dr. Light lies defeated, but, with his final breath, releases his greatest creation, Megaman Omega.
Omega, shows no reaction to the death of his ‘father’, but expresses some respect for Bass being an inferior model but still managing to fight his way into heart of Dr. Light’s empire. He offers his enemy the chance to join him, but, if he doesn’t take it, Megaman Omega attacks. Eventually overpowering Bass with his relentless attacks, Megaman Omega stands triumphant and throws him out of the building where he crashes to the ground below, beaten, broken, but still alive and ready for round two.
(so, yeah, all that leading up to a massive sequel hook, sorry about that, but, seriously, I feel like it’s the best way to end the story, and take some time to build a larger overarching story about Bass getting the chance to fully define himself and choose his own destiny. That said, I had no idea how much of my life this was going to eat up, and, before I tackle part two, I want to take a little break, so, come back in two weeks, I’ll be dealing with something a little closer to home)
