Description
After the recent post by Jaime Headden on his blog "the bite stuff" (the good, the bad and the Spinosaurus) I try to re-study the probable Sponosaurus head.I focus my attention on the holotype partial dentary and on the Huge rostrum MSMN V4047.
Like Jaime (Who has a different thesis) the jaws matched up better if there are regarde natural, and considering a possible overbite the teeth fits pretty well.
So here is it:
dentary (stromer 1931)
rostrum (Dal Sasso 2006)

Many Thanks to Jaime Headden and Scott Hartman

I extremely agree with your theory; its a very logical explanation; the mouth seems to fossilize more often but the rest of the body almost never fossilize; well... the mouth and the sail.
But does that mean the seal made from a 'durable' material too ?

Only a couple of specimen preserved the sail; the holotype and the Neotype.
Maybe the morphology of the vertebrae make them harder to be waste before the sedimentation of the skeleton...

Possible
Thought spinosaurus's sail; is probably one-of-a-kind part.

I like this job, great details of the manidublas and dentition.

Well Lips... I read lot of articles and a couple of papers about dinosaurs Lips but actually I m still without a strong thesis about...
the Spinosaurus rostrum Β for me could even be keratinous (beak-like) and for this resaon stronger than others part of skeleton wich are no fossils.
anyway Now I Wanna see the new Sereno's material and after that I could modified my work (for what I see in the small skeletal Mount there is a Great overbite ).
Thank you for the compliment

No problem and I noticed the overbite in the mount as well, can't wait for the paper too.
By the way, I only found your reply by coincidence, if you want other dA-users to get notification you should click on the reply button.
