1 Officer: “Commissioner? Can I have a word?”
1 Gordon: “What’s wrong?”
2 Officer: “I’m sorry to report two more desertions, Commissioner. Officers Levinson and Brookholme have fled the city.”
2 Gordon: “Damn it. We were already getting down to a skeleton crew.”
3 Officer: “Brookholme has a wife and kids. Hard to blame him, all things considered.”
3 Gordon: “A lot of other people’s wives and kids will be worse off for it, though. He took the same oath we did.”
4 Officer: “Can you coordinate our patrols with your ‘friend’, sir? I hate to admit it, but we could use the help.”
4 Gordon: “I will. He’s stretched thin, too, though.”
5 Officer: “He needs to stop wasting time helping with the Justice League’s big operations. He’s more use holding what passes for society together than punching some telepathic space ape, particularly when they’re not even going to win.”
5 Gordon: “Society is disintegrating faster than anyone can hold it together.”
6 Officer: “Commissioner! We just got the news, sir. Harvey Dent killed the D.A. This cannot go unanswered.”
6 Gordon: “Fuck. Alright. It was just a matter of time, I suppose. Put out an all points bulletin. Get cars out there.”
