Sorry to bug you again.
While ripping, I still get a few crashes in certain places. Hope you don't mind me asking what Video Settings you are using when ripping?
Operating System, Resolution, Aspect Ratio, Vsync, Quality Settings, etc.
I have a feeling that the weird squished meshes in a few of my rips maybe related to the resolution/aspect ratio.

Quake Champions recently just went Free2Play, and I was about to go rip her model now but wanted to check if anyone else had already did it.
- Did you already rip all her costume designs and textures?
- Did you use Ninja Ripper or a different extraction tool?
- Any plans to release the raw .rip files and textures?
You did a lot of work already so I completely understand if you have no plans to release.
I'm ripping models with Ninja Ripper, and rigging them in Blender, then letting the Source communities (SFM, Gmod, etc.) port them to their games.

I only have her Ruby and Lore skin, same with most of my other rips. I do use Ninjaripper and noesis, but often edit the normal in photoshop. I also don't plan on releasing the files, but I'm sure if you can't get them they'll be out one day

Thanks for replying. What kind of edit do you do to the normal texture?
Also, have you come across this strange shading issue:
gfycat.com/MatureRedDaddylongl…
- No lights, textures, or materials applied.
gfycat.com/ShowyTerrificHoneyc…
- No Normal maps applied.
- Diffuse Image Texture -> Diffuse Shader -> Material Output
After ripping the model with Ninja Ripper, I used Noesis to export it as OBJ with UV Flip.

Go into edit mode and set faces, that's really all I do for that problem

Thank you, that fixed it.
You mentioned you "often edit the normal in photoshop", is there something wrong with the normal textures from Ninja Ripper?
Also, when and where do you usually rip the characters from Quake Champions?
I believe there are 3 places to rip characters from:
1. Main Menu -> Character does an intro animation
2. Main Menu -> Character Appearance Customization
3. Ingame -> Before Match Countdown or End of Match
I apologize if I'm asking too much from you. I've been trying to keep the Ninja Ripper tutorial up to date with better information:

[Introduction]
Ninja Ripper works a little differently from other extraction tools.
- While a game is running, it will directly rip all the meshes and textures that are loaded in-game.
- You might get better textures compared to other extraction tools.
- I don't think it can rip skeletons/armatures/bones yet.
How useful is Ninja Ripper?
- In some games, as soon as you launch the game, you may already see a 3D model actively rendered in the Main Menu/Character Selection/Login Screen.
Game: DC Universe Online
- In the image above, you can actually rip that character model directly from the main menu.
- Or maybe you found a random player online with a rare skin/armor piece:
https://gfycat.com/GiddyShamelessIriomotecat
- You can rip their models too, but you may need to be in close proximity to them so their highres textures are loaded in-game.

you need to use photoshop to make the normal map blue and I normally go to customization when I rip characters

Thank you.
In photoshop, which method do you use to change it to blue?
-EDIT- Do you just invert color?
Also, have you had any crashes while trying to rip from the Character Customization?

Go to the layers and change the "Blue" from black to white, also no I don't crash when ripping from anywhere in QC

Thank you again.
I recently got a response from a DeviantArt user named XnaFreak who suggests that changing the blue layer to white is not recommended:

I'm not familiar with all the technical matters behind Normal Maps and 3D geometry, so I figured I should get your thoughts on the matter.

You can use the HUE method, select the part on the texture material part and change the specific color!

Interesting, the Invert image method and changing the Blue layer to white method look very similar but different.
Is the Blue layer to white method the recommended way? And thank you for sharing that.

Came across a few interesting things from the rip:
.The feet are located higher up on the model
.Eyeball textures
- gfycat.com/YoungShrillAkitainu
.Her hair meshes are extremely tiny compared to the rest of the body.
I had a few crashes in the menu areas while ripping, but found a pattern in the crash that I managed to avoid.
Also, not sure if it matters, I have the game running in Borderless Fullscreen mode. Maybe later I will try Fullscreen instead.

The difference between inverting and changing the layer is the actual bump it'll give. I use an invert normal with my nodes so I use the layers, but I assume you can also just invert it. For the legs you just have to move them down to fit on the model, and the eyeballs need to be re-adjusted which can be done in multiple ways

Thanks. I probably should do the same with the hair mesh too.

Again, thank you for the help. This helped me quite a bit and I learned some new things.

Awesome stuff! Love that outfit, real shame it's a promotion-only thing. Would love to see more stuff with her.
What program, by the way? Blender?

Yup! Ripped from QC and ported into Blender. Might make more Nyx renders if thats what people want

Any chance you can do some renders with the default blue hair model?

I don't have that one yet, but I plan on getting it soon
