Hisashi Ouchi was kept alive against his wishes in unimaginable agony for almost three months after being exposed to high levels of radiation from the Tokaimura Nuclear Disaster. There has been speculation as to whether the tragic figure in the image is indeed Mr Ouchi, but as with much of what we are told, the truth is often far stranger (and more horrifying) than fiction.
