Description For 's spec challenge vol 4.

These creatures live on the smaller and (in this case) more arid island of the two. For scale: the bat has a wingspan of 5 cm.

Plants :
Sedum microflosum

This member of the genus Sedum has developed a thick body for the storage of water, thorns for protection and extremely small blossoms science has yet to find a reason for. They also lost their leaves completely, mabe to stop the plant with the already verry thick body from loosing water or overheating. Even though they typically don't get bigger than 30cm, they often become the epicenter of their own little ecosystem.

Animals:

Apimus omnivorius

This verry small bat can feed on small animals as well as S. microflosum's nectar. Because of this adaptable way of foraging it can be found all around the island. It can change from nocturnal insectivore to diurnal pollinator or a mixture of both at any given time depending on season, location, and supply of food. It bites to defend itself which not only lead to the latin name of the genus ( bee mouse) but also to its english and german names: furry wasp (en) and Affenhornisse (de).

Gracilivenator atlantica

This small dragonfly specialised on feeding on small crustacean and fish larvae, but it supliments it's diet with the nectar and inner fluids of S. microflosum. It's scythe-like front pair of limbs is perfectly suited to catch small prey from the water surface and slice holes into S. microflosum to drink it's sweet juice. It's larva is verry toughly buit in contrary to the adults, able to grow up in the shallow lagoon of the island, feeding on fish.

Deroplatys knueppei

This mantid has evolved to perfectly resemble a trunk of S. microflosum. It is by far the strangest species of the big genus Deroplatys, having spikes, a long thorax and green colouration, making it a popular breeding choice by mantis enthusiasts with enough money and recources. It mainly preys on A. omnivorius and G. atlantica, but cannibalism, scavenging and "experiments" with other food sources are not uncommon, especially on such a small and arid island.

The Smol flappy sky doggo, the not-even-a-durgen-tho, and the spiky sticky-sneak find the flowery heck-off green much important.
