This is my entry for the group contest, "Side-Kicks!"Earlier this year I downloaded Donkey Kong Country 2 for the Virtual Console and after a week or two I reached the "Screech's Sprint" level. I was never good at controlling Squawks. So I ended up crashing into thorns and bees several, SEVERAL times. I gave up for a while and went back to it and eventually made it to the end.
This picture portrays how Squawks would probably look if he had accumulated all the damage that was cause by my consistent failure of the course. But he toughed it out.
Squawks is one of my favorite animal buddies from the game, and and cool side kick. Done in Photoshop CS4. May 28, 2010.

This could also apply to Squawk's section in Animal Antics, what with the wind pushing the poor parrot into the Bramble vine walls.

Truthfully, Animal Antics is far worse than Screech's Sprint, because the former adds wind to the amount of hazards that Squawks has to deal with.

Believe me, I've actually had such a difficult time being able to get past that level in the game, which turned out to be much trickier to play than the levels that involved climbing up out of the reach of dangerous liquids (namely, "Slime Climb" and "Toxic Tower").

it's been years but i still remember THAT level. ugh, i must have gotten a half dozen game overs before i got that bird from one side of the level to the other.

Poor Squawks. I like bone coming out his foot, and how he has brambles stuck in his beak. The only thing I've ever liked about this level is the music.
