For andI had alot to say this time because I haven't done anything in a while, so just skip to the parts that interest you.

Well, apparantly this is Matsu's femanine side brought to life... so to speak. She was supposed to have a different outfit and bigger b00bs, but I changed it all because I feel she looks more femanine this way.

So basically, I was to do my own version of this character. It was originally an anthro character, but I decided to change her to a cosplay character because I suck at anthro.
I changed her clothes because I just can't see her in a Link outfit.About this pic:
Yup, I decided to do a yuri pic. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't do this just because I like yuri because as you can see, this particular pic isn't perverted.
I think their characters were supposed to be 17/18 years old, but I made them look a little younger because then they look more cute rather than slutty.
What I was really focusing on was to show you all "the first kiss" and I tried to put all my effort into making the background illustrate the emotion in this pic. I hope I've succeeded.
The title - Two Birds
Although the reason why I had actually named it this is because I was "killing two birds with one stone" (two requests for the work of one deviation). You can read the title as it is refering to the girls. "Birds" is apparantly very old slang for "girls".
Airbrushing technique:
This time I decided to (not for the first time) do all my colours on one layer - minus the sky. Why? No, not because I'm lazy
but because I currently sick of cel-shading. Cel-shading is nice, but I do it way too often and this time I wanted to get something that looked more like traditional art.Time taken:
About an hour or two for the sketching process (it was a bit rushed) and the same for the inking. I should've finished the inking sooner, but I hadn't yet drawn the flowers in pencil and I really hate flowers (can't draw them
).The CGing took probally 20 minutes.

I'm not a fan of yuri but this is a very beautiful drawing. ^^ I love the soft coloring. When I do digital art I tend to try and make it as traditional-looking as I can [though I'm still learning the ropes in PhotoShop XD]. ^^ Very nice!

Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful that you took the time to draw this, so I have to draw my trade for you. I dunno. I just feel a little as if this wasn't even a trade, so I guess the comic won't be the 100% just-for-you comic I originally planned.

Well, this would be my third trade, and I mean ever. So I'm not really sure how it works, but I thought an art trade is just two people doing a request for each other. *shrugs* I don't think there are really any specific rules like posting them at the same time or whatever, you can just do your end whenever you feel like it... or not... it's up to you, I won't force you. But I just really wanted to get my end done before my artistic drive declines any further.

Uh... does that mean that you're pissed off about my fusing-our-trade-with-my-kiriban thing? Because honestly, I don't see how that could be a problem. If I didn't, you would've just got a penciled Mattie sitting down by herself or something where as I think this yuri pic is alot more interesting. And if it's about you not liking yuri, well I'm sorry, I just thought I could prove that yuri can be pleasing to a larger audience. I mean, it seemed like everyone else liked it. *shrugs*

You do realise that I asked you if you wanted to do a trade. I held up my end of the trade. I did a good job on the trade (or atleast, I thought I did). So I don't get why you're trying to turn it around and make me look like the badguy. Either that, or this is just your odd way of saying thanks.
And again, if you're pissed that I fused the trade with the kiriban, then I have to remind you that I personally thought it would be more interesting this way. And I don't see the other guy complaining, and his character looked completely different. And atleast Mattie actually looks like Mattie.
But if your not happy with the result then I can't help it. I don't mind you saying you didn't like it, and I certainly don't mind critique. Just don't go off making me the badguy.
And I don't mean for this to come off as rude or anything either, it may sound worse than it really is. I'm taking into consideration that you just recently broke up with your gf, so I can underastand you being a little moody.

It's just that a trade is supposed to be something just for the other person. Hmmm... Maybe like a birthday present (exclude the fact that they don't give you something back). I mean, would you like it if your friend took you to a movie for a gift, then you realized that he did it because he had to take someone else too? It feels less personal, like you were wasting his time and he'd just take you because it was "killing two birds with one stone".
The only other thing I'm a little upset about is the pic itself. It's a great pic, emotional, and I don't even mind one bit that's it's yuri, but it's kinda how Mattie fits in. I'm not too sure of the personalities and other tidbits of your characters, so I can't give an example, but the pic makes her really out of character. I mean, the only sign that it's her is her hair, and if you changed that, the pic would have no relation to me at all.
The kiriban pic you drew for me a while ago was spectacular: I really, really loved it and still do. It's because not only was it so awesome, but it captured the characters' personalities very well. I guess I was kinda hoping it'd be like that.
*shakes head* Ugh, I feel really bad about ranting like this: it makes it look like I don't like it at all, and that's not true. As a pic, it's beautiful and I can see the creativity that went into it, but besides Mattie's hair, it feels like it has nothing to do with me.
I'm not asking you to draw me another or something, but if you did, I'd be more than happy to make you two comics, as I'll still draw you a comic for your work.

Well, as I said, if I just did it solely for you, it would've just been her sitting there. Don't you think that'd be boring? I do.
And last XMas, the foreman at work decided to get everyone presents, just for fun. Everyone got the same present, but so what? It didn't make it any less of a present.

Well, let's think about what defines Mattie:
-she's the female alter ego of Matt
-her hair
-her b00bs
Well, I didn't include the clothes because anyone can change clothes at any time. Also, I choose clothes to suit the mood of the pic. That also happened to be the reason for the deflated b00bs.
Now, let me ask you this: what would be the first (DA friendly) thing that you would do if you got to be a girl for a day?
Yeah, I thought so.
Anyways, the other character has no personallity, heck, I changed her from an anthro character just to suit this pic. If you really read the description you would've known. The flowers were actually there in the planning stage - before the other character came in.

Really? I don't see how that was much different. Just instead of kissing, they're glomping. Or maybe you're just dissappointed that I didn't do cel-shading this time around.

Well, I really can't help that, I didn't know doing a crossover pic would take that feel away. But just so you know, the only thing that the other guy got was the ears and the fact that her clothes are green. Go back to my original description and check out the reference pic he gave me.

Final thoughts:
Well, if you're dissappointed then you're dissappointed, could've just said that and I wouldn't have minded. But you made it sound like I purposely did a crap job to annoy you or something. Which in a way is an insult itself, because I thought I did okay, heck, I even showed it off on IGN. I really had no idea you wouldn't be happy about the crossover.
And no, I won't be doing another one. When you agreed to the trade, you knew what you were getting into, you knew how lazy I am. And no, I don't mind you doing that other comic and whatever else you were going to do to it. As long as I know there weren't any hard feeling on my effort.

That's because no one arranged a trade with him.

It's more than that. I've tried making comics to show how my characters act so you can tell their personalities. And in the very least, people could associate her with Naru: hot-headed and usually violent when it comes to perverts, but otherwise pretty normal or hard-working. But I don't know if you've read Love Hina.

No, it was great because even if to you it was boring because it was a close up of them just hugging, their facial expressions fit their characters.

I think it's just the characterization that made me feel this way: I mean, change the hair, and no one would know it's my character. I mean, even though she is kinda lesbian anyway, she's kissing some random girl.

You said that if I said I was disappointed, you wouldn't have minded. But I don't know how to say that without sounding rude, like "... I'm really dissappointed with this pic.
And I'm not saying your comic will be bad or something: just saying I'm changing it to fit this is all. I was originally going to do a comic about Ayumi (although I wasn't sure what she'd do: maybe bust into some house and kill someone), but it'll just be different. Not mean. I already said I don't hate this pic or think you're a bad guy.

While I wouldn't advise going around and giving critique (even though I think people should) it's better that you did say something about your dissappointment. It shouldn't matter even if you hated it, I mean, just because it's a trade, doesn't mean you don't have to like it.
