You're welcome. Thank you too
I always dread it when people ask any kind of 'how do you do this?' questions because I am the worst person at explaining things in the whole world. XD
It depends on the drawing; sometimes I doodle whole canvases full of colour that I later go back to and pick colours from - or just from memory from what I remembered worked/didn't work from doing that; others I just make it up as I go along based on what I think looks cool at the time. I like to work with complimentary colours and contrast. I also do use primary colours a lot - particularly when I am trying to define forms. Sometimes I'll have something specific in mind - like I want to draw someone with red hair or blue skin etc. - and I'll build up from there. I personally think that particularly with skin tones the more colours that there are within it, the more life the drawing has. I usually do most of the face first, then everything else and finally the finishing touches to the face, so generally I try to compliment everything to that.
That probably doesn't make any sense; I meant it when I said I am terrible at explaining things XD
Ummm... Like on this one I wanted light/dark, red/green and then I brought in some more purple/yellow hues for the shading to add extra depth. I remembered that you liked the red accents on my previous drawing and I wanted to bring that into this one as well, so there was the green to balance it out... I guess I just like to use 'opposites'.

Haha, no it made complete sense! I think I can sort of understand your artistic process a little bit more. I normally just start with gradients of different colors to establish my mood first and then build up from there..... I don't do much thinking to be honest haha. Just winging it until the artwork is done xD
I'll try to use more complimentary colors! They seem to create some really striking effects in your work

I am glad that it did make sense Winging it is always good - and usually really fun.
I think what also helped me is that I am in no way trying to go for something that looks real, so whereas before I might have been 'no, I can't put that colour there because that doesn't make sense' now I'm just all 'woo' and just go for whatever looks pretty XD. Not to say that art can't be realistic with 'strange' colours, it was just some kind of mental block that I personally had.
Thank you ^_^

Haha yeah that's a great approach! I'll often just throw in funky colors because it looks so puuurddy as well. xD
Realism is kind of a bore to me anyway. I mean, you can inform your artistic process quite a bit by studying reality, but meeehhh. People who just paint realistic portraits are, despite being undoubtedly skilled, kind of boring to me. So yeah! PRETTY STUFF ALL THE WAY!
