i use photoshop cs5 and xp pen artist 12 graphic tablet. but i'd advise saving up for a wacom, most of the cheaper alternatives show problems on the long run

GASP! That's the EXACT screen tablet I've been wanting for MONTHS! One of my favorite artists using it, oh boy. Is it any good for a beginner's needs, despite maybe causing issues down the line? Was it worth the money?

when it comes to value, and i even did a review praising it but some issues started showing up along the way. for starters the color "black" is really washed out and its a huge annoyance to me since i work on dark values it looks like cheap laptop monitors "instead of black its like a dark blue value", after a month a "burn spot" appeared like those on old LED monitors when you leave a static image for a long period and it gets burned into the monitor, the express keys mix commands alot and do things they weren't assigned to. other than that its workeable i use it daily and will probably keep doing so until i can afford a wacom cintiq in the near future and give this away to anyone.  
if you're on a tight budget i'd suggest putting the money aside and keep adding to it and get a cintiq, my other wacom tablet has been kicking butts for over 6 years like i just got it out of the box, they're the industry standard for a reason.
