Description
EDIT: One thing I forgot to put. When outlining, it's a good idea to make the color of your outline one or two shades darker than the main color of your drawing. For example my I.D; [link] (It's old, but it's the same concept)Okay, so lots of requests... like... from forever ago.
ANYWAY, let me say this; yes, I did draw a dog. Your point? It may not be a wolf, but it's pretty damn close enough. I gave a point right there in the tutorial if you bother to look. Besides, this is how to draw a wolf, I'm sure German Shepherds are close enough. There are many other "How-To Draw A Wolf" tutorials out there that are much better, more detailed, and more descriptive than mine is. I simply wrote down and showed what I do, not what other people do.

Yeah, this is years old LOL (2009!) SAI didn't exist back then, and I don't even know if I had photoshop. I'm surprised people still like this tutorial, though, it's not that great imo. I should remake...

i think its good the only thing that makes it less clear is that you used the old version of paint.net and i have the new one so this didn't help me to much ;-;

Aw ;o; I didn't even know there was a new version. Most of it is the same, though. Learning the skeletal structure (and muscular) will really help with your anatomy and form. It also helps to look at a lot of pictures of wolves from different angles and in different poses. It'll help to draw them, and using guidelines will help you with perspective, proportions, etc. I think drawing different dog breeds will help, too. They all have similar anatomy, but it's easier to see in dogs how different shapes/lines can vastly affect how different the outcome is. As for the actual drawing, it doesn't really matter what tool you use. Some people like thick lines, some like thin, some like sharp, some like sketchy/painterly. You also don't NEED the pen tool (but it's probably somewhere) if you don't have a tablet. You could look it up where to find it if it is there. But if not, you can use thicker lines and then just erase away what you don't want.

This morning, I couldn't draw a wolf for my life. Now, it's an hour after midnight, and I can draw so much better because of this!

;o I'm really glad to hear that! It's admittedly a bit of an iffy tutorial in my opinion, but I'm glad to hear that it helped! ^^ Just practice a lot from pictures, study skeletons, and especially draw from real life if you can! It's okay if your subject is moving, just draw very basic shapes to get the general idea and work your way up.

I could have sworn I commented this already, I'm so sorry about my stupidity, I feel so mean now. Sorry!
But anyways, this is a really lovely tutorial! I'm sure it'll be helpful in many ways for many people. Until now, I've had no idea how to outline with pen tool digitally, so I never even tried. Thank you. Sketches are the only thing I can manage to finish nowadays, so now I can atleast take it a little step furter.
Oh, and I was actually eating Ritz-crackers that time when I thought I commented this.

Sketches are the only things I manage to do now a days too, unless I'm in hart. ^^ I should upload some of my pictures when I get them back...
