I always liked those drydocks we got to see in movies I and II. I wonder why they didn't use them later on (though I definitely loved the "mushroom stations" too--do they have a particular name besides just "spacedocks?" Pardon me if I've asked before and forgotten. )

They have some non-canon names but they were simply referred to as Spacedocks in canon.
I think they started to use them because they looked more monumental than the drydocks.

Yes, they definitely have more to them! I always like to imagine that they're the 2280's equivalent of earlier space stations like K-7, and have residential sectors and everything.

Sweet. I love the reflections in of the lights and trusses on the engine nacelle caps, as well as all the shadows thrown across the ship. They really give it depth.
