Captain's starlog, July 8, 2156. The struggle against the Romulans continue after a month of hasty decision-making. Five weeks ago, war was declared on the entity we call the Romulan Star Empire. Ever since then, our faceless foe has dealt blow by blow upon Earth ships and colonies. Even after a mere month, skirmishes with the Romulans seem like daily routine. Personal addendum: Challenger was probably lost, Columbia is still missing.Just as Captain Archer has finished writing the above log entry, two Romulan Birds of Prey have attacked Enterprise. The Starfleet vessel managed to survive with a damaged nacelle and a couple of fused EPS relays. One of the Romulan ships was destroyed, the other crippled. Little did the crew of Enterprise know that the war was only beginning...

The romulan vessels are referred to as warbirds, as far as I know...
Though I'm not sure if they changed that over time...

The original (TOS) Romulan ship was called the Bird of Prey. The term was adapted to Klingons with Star Trek: The Search for Spock. The original story called for Romulans, and later that Kruge has stolen an experimental ship from the Romulans. ENT changed the story so that the BoP was a Kligon design from the beginning.

Speaking of SfS... Back when this movie came to germany, they actually translated the class name - in TNG, they didn't bother doing that anymore.

We in Hungary always called it Klingon RagadozΓ³madΓ‘r, a direct translation of the term. Standard class names were not translated, so the Constitution was called Constitution, and so on.
What really interests me, if I'm not utterly mistken, in Germany, starships are called Raumschiffe, not Sternenschiffe. But in Trek, a clear distinction is made between spaceship and starship. Why the mis-translation?

Well, it depends... Sometimes you get a "Sternenschiff", sometimes a "Raumschiff".
In common language, "Raumschiff" is the more general term for this.
Many feel like it is the same, just a different name.
"Weltraum" is our word for "(outer) space". A Raumschiff travels though space - in the future even from star to star.
Regarding the class names, the SF spaceships kept their original class names, but the Klingon Bird of Prey (Class)
was translated to "Raubvogelklasse". A direct translation as well.

In Hungarian, Starship is usually called csillaghajΓ³, while spaecship is Ε±rhajΓ³. Ε°rhajΓ³ is the real-world term, e.g. we call the Soyuz an Ε±rhajΓ³. Sometimes, in the dub, they mix up the two terms, but the generic term for starship is indeed csillaghajΓ³.
