Description
Probably my biggest 3D printing job thus far. After finishing my little Type I, I decided to build the Type II for it. I intended the two units to be linked by magnets.Unfurtunately, what 3DS Max sees and what the printer does are not the same thing: the front cowl of the Type I was too big for the Type II's window port. I decided to make the best of this quagmire, so I quickly modified my Type I model without the upper front cowl (the lower cowl with the emitter barrel is there and visible through the little plexiglass window) and with the earliest TOS incarnation, with details that appear only in the first eight episodes. I printed this modified PI which now for the PII without any issue. Of course, when I painted it, it followed the early TOS "white handle" color scheme.
When finishing the thing, I simply bolted the PI down with two small screws, invisible even close-up. So the PI and PII form an inseparable bond, just like the stunt phasers did on the show.
The detailing is somewhere between a "midgrade" and a "hero" prop, with the whole thing being static, but possessing more details than the show-used midgrades.
Built in 3DS Max, printed with a Wanhao Duplicator resin printer, painted with Mr. Color spray paints.

Neat. But I think it's your least realistic looking piece, to date...

Yeah, because this was the earliest version. It did not look good on TV so the whole thing was revamped, changing the color scheme and adding more detail.
