I've Β often wondered how the oberth class came to be. So diffrent Β from traditional design.

Is this an original ship design? I love it.

Nope, it's an Oberth class, introduced in The Search for Spock.

I wish i had one of this for my own, i would refit it as much as possible to "current" standards and use it as my private vessel to haul cargo and stuff

I'd use her as my personal pimpmobile

This is amazing! I've always loved the design of this ship and thought it was underused. It's really sleek and although still has the Federation 'look' has a very clear unique design. There aren't enough pics of this ship online, but this one really does her justice!

very nice geometry, yet the pattern is a bit too conspicious. but maybe that's just me. good job.

Cool! I always like the Grissom. Neat POV and great background!
(looks like you could play chess on the aft deck )

Have to agree that the Obert is a great design. Will be fun to see more of it.

Can anyone remember when we used to be explorers? Fantastic work, as always! The Oberth has always been one of my favorite Trek ships.

That's the quote that actually inspired the image.

And you've really done a great job with it; this image really captures one of the most neglected themes of Star Trek. Keep up the good work!

Nice work. Although I think the texture would work better at 50% downscaled (i.e. smaller pattern).

I made the pattern "big" to suggest a smaller ship
(It's a standard map I created, used it for the Excelsior as well)

Ah, ok then, that logic works I guess.

A cloaked bird of prey slinks in behind the Oberth class starship. Ship commander: Gunner--Target their engines only, Understood!. Gunner:Understood, my lord. Ship commander: Disengage the cloak and fire!.
