If only the episode were as good as this art!

It was not an all too bad episode

No, you're right. Truth to tell, I actually enjoyed it.
I guess my problem was that it was the fourth episode that season about a culture being altered by a FederationΒ officer/official's meddling.
"Omega Glory" came after "Bread and Circuses" (a captain condemns his crew to fight as gladiators in a 20th century Rome),Β "A Piece of the Action" (a history book on Chicago mobs on the 1920's inspires a culture), Β andΒ "Patterns of Force" (a historian introduces a world to Nazism).
It also used the same idea of "you can't go back to your ship because you've caught the plague" that was featured in "Miri."
The funny thing is that "Omega Glory" was apparently one of the stories they considered using for the pilot episode, so it actually came before any of the others.

What ship is that other Constitution class in the background there?

The USS Exeter.

Doesn't their captain somehow go rogue?

Of course. It happened all the way back in TOS

I think IΒ vaguely remember seeing the end of that episode on TV when Kirk was wrestling with that other captain and then was citing the constitution. Β

The Exeter's captain thought he'd found a fountain of youth on a world that had been devastated by a war centuries before.
It turned out to be a parallel Earth. The two warring tribes were the Yangs and Komes (rhymes with domes), descendants of Yanks and Communists.
The secret of their long lives was plain old genetics: the survivors had been the strongest, etc., so incredible life spans were the norm.
It was from the series' third (and weakest) season.

US-related shenanigans shall follow...Huh? Is this some secret club password? Sorry it is really bugging me as I have seen it listed in comments several times. Re the image, the planet's color is unusual. Does it reflect some different gasses in the atmosphere? The Connie is superb.

Watch the original episode. The Enterprise crew find a tribe who worship the old US Constitution. And in the original episode, the planet looked purple.

I love this image and I really LOVE that planet, but is there any way to "flip" the planet within the background (not necessarily the entire background if the planetary limbs are part of the composition) so that the direction of light on the ships matches the planet itself?Β My compulsive mind just can't get around that minor inconsistency and it sort of shatters the awesome illusion.

Yeah, I tend to have a problem with that one. But... "next time, Gadget, next timeeee"

"US-related shenanigans shall follow" lol I love it. The image is awesome, I feel it's even better than the remastered edition.

I have to admit, I don't like the remastered Trek. The ships were made too videogame-esque, instead of the nice realism of the ENT ships.

It'd be too hot. Saunos V's atmosphere and surface are at 212 degrees F.

hey dude, are you still getting your backgrounds from NASA, or do you edit some too? I'm starting to get tired of using only google images

It's not a bad episode, it has a good Cold War vibe I actually like. I even did an explanation for the Khom/Yang races in my Polarisverse
