Description
I finally decided to build this beast. The overall shape is not that complex, but the windows... on a spherical surface...Anyway, moaning aside, I'm proudly presenting to you the Olympic a.k.a. Hope class hospital ship, from the TNG finale. She'll be released with the next batch.
Model by me
Background by NASA

Me neither. Guess they wanted to emphasize that it's not a standard-role starship.

I was thinking that starfleet must have been suffering from some trans-galactic plagues if they need whole SHIPS dedicated to hospital..ity.

Nahh, even in real wolrd navies, they have hospital ships. For example, the Britannic, sister ship of the Titanic was a hospital ship during World War I.

Windows on spherical surfaces ain't no thang...Β if whatever modelling program you're using has the right tools.

No idea... I use SolidWorks, so I'd add a tangential line to the surface, create a new plane from the intersection point of the line and surface, then add the details of the window. And then use a curve-driven pattern to duplicate the window. Methinks CAD programs handle things differently.

She's a beauty Dave and I understand how those spheres are, even in low poly were you texture in the windows the mapping is a real pain in the butt.Β

I feel in love with a very long time ago. Wish we could have seen more of her class. Of course, our Enterprise could have
ended up looking like this beauty. Β Maybe in an alternate time line.

Yeah, I had that thought too. If the Daedalus design would have been the 1701, maybe this design would have taken the 1701-D's place.
