Description
Captain's log, addendum: with Asteroid MM-62-69's unique radiation signature interfering with our sensors, I've ordered its direct observation. The away team, consisting of myself, Mr. Spock, Dr. McCoy and Ensign N'body, have boarded the shuttle Galileo. Estimated mission time: 2-3 hours.Enterprise and Galileo shuttle by me

She's a tough little shuttle, the Galileo.

Somebody's gonna die on this mission, I wonder who it will be?

This is probably going through Ensign N'body's mind "I'm an astronaut but I'd rather be fishin', 'cause I've been up in space on a five year mission, It really is quite horrible, I'm really quite annoyed, I've been sitting down for so long, I got ASSteroids."

And out of thin air, he gets mauled to death by an ASSteroid rock monster
Cue McCoy: He's dead, Jim!

Nice one. What 's interesting about the design, the shuttle is not warp capable even though it has nacelles.

The Class F shuttle has never been shown as warp capable. And the model does in fact have impulse engines at the rear of the shuttle. If I had to guess, the nacelle's would be strictly for emergencys, such as medical evacuations from hostile territory. The parent ship could remain outside enemy weapons range and the shuttle could preform "tactical warp jumps" to and from the target location.

Not sure you would fit a whole warp drive system just for emergency use. It would be a bit like putting a rocket on your car for overtakingΒ Β

Three words: Micro Warp Core. Shuttle's in the 2300s had them, so it stands to reason Starfleet had to start somewhere. The Class F would be a good starting point.
As for the rocket, who need's that when you have NOS.

There is still a debate whether this craft is Warp capable or not.

Neither is the El-Baz Shuttlepod on board the Enterprise-D, I speculate that the Nacelles are used for impulse propulsion.

Possibly or structural integrity and inertial dampening at near-light impulse speeds. This is something real science has no idea about.
