I finally finished my build of the Prometheus class. Sadly, it doesn't have the ability to split into three party, I haven't managed to get that feature down. One day, my modelling skills will be good enough!She was named USS Pandora by my girlfriend, whose knowledge of Greek mythology exceeds mine a hundredfold!

You could just create a "low budget" version that don't split. Simpler, less complex and much easier to manufacture and maintenance version.Β

Awesome work. Seeing the Prometheus split into 3 ships on "Voyager" was just awesome and the battle scene with the Warbirds and the Federation ships was also awesome.

That scene was one of the best examples in Trek how CGI has improved. This was something that could have been done in months with phyiscal models, and only a few days/weeks with CGI.

Cool on how Pandora got its name. I named my Prometheus Class ship the USS Athena myself. Athena's not just a goddess of wisdom in Greek Mythology, she's also a goddess of war. However, unlike her the brutal, cruel, and cowardly nature of her brother, Ares, the god of War, Athena was more about intelligence, tactics, strategy, and overall fighting smart. Athena seemed a great name for a ship of this Class, suited to the Federation's technological prowess and what kind of fighting it's likely to the utility if and when it does wage war. In my What-If, where some of the hard lessons learned in the Dominion War were learned and taken to heart earlier, post-Cardassian War earlier, the first of the class entering service, the Prometheus, while the Dominion War was still a cold war was one of the results. Thus so was the incident with the Romulans trying to steal the Prometheus, had to have a story change, enter the Athena, the second of the class, to the rescue of her sister ship with her resourceful tac officer(& Earth history buff) hacking the Prometheus's holographic systems to project a holographic rescue. Imagine the look on the Romulan operatives' faces dealing with a holographic group of US Navy SEALs, including weapons of their era, for as Picard said, "even a holographic bullet can kill." Yes, for all but one of the operatives, the last thing they saw was the front barrel of a SEAL's rifle. The captain of the Athena wasn't thrilled, but didn't argue with the results, the only people who complained about the literal bloody mess on the Prometheus, were the then, pre-Breen bombing of Earth Starfleet brassholes. In the Dominion War proper, the Athena avenged the USS Valiant, it fought the Jem'Hadar Battleship that destroyed the Valiant, and it's Multi-Vector Assault Mode was the winning card. After that fight, the Dominion created a new threat level category, so rather than low, medium and high, USS Athena's actions made the Dominion take the Prometheus Class seriously enough to create a new threat level for the class, giving it the threat level of "Outstanding."

To be honestΒ I think the Prometheus looks cooler in default mode; in multi-vector mode it just looks silly. Then there is that issue that StarfleetΒ builds an ultimate multi-vector warship which probably costs the same amount as building 3 or 4 starships and then they forget to put theft deterrence on it. Really Starfleet maybe this was a one time thing like Transwarp drive on the USS Excelsior!?!Β Β

Prometheus got punished for giving fire to man, Pandora got blamed for letting all the troubles out of the box... I'm noticing a re-occuring theme here!

That's a damned fine ship! As for the splitting apart... eh. I wasn't too big a fan of it in the show. So if this one doesn't, that's cool.
