One of the best I've seen. The tip of the hat goes to the completely dark center. Nothing scared me more than looking at the image of the cloud with it's black center and all those weird lights flashing around it as the plasma bolt made it's way through the cloud.
Other critiques? The shape looks too defined. It needs to look like a cloud!

Thank you very much!
It's not perfect, but it's hard to make it so

Like this than the other - it feels like the beginning of infinity.....
Are you planning on doing the whole V'Ger thing?
That would be beyond words...

Thank you very much!
The V'Ger "vessel", you mean? Hmmm... two people succeeded in building that thing in CGI in history and the first went for the Director's Edition of TMP. Challenge: accepted.

If you're looking for constructive criticism, the original cloud arms had depth and layers like a cake. The gap in the middle looked more like a bird's eye view of a deep dark trench and that's about the only improvment I can see here. Great work though. It was unmistakably the V'ger cloud from the movie. Throw in three Klingon ships or do a scene where the enterprise's saucer seperates and kicks their ass you'd have a eye popper.

Sorry to post twice but thought you may find this interesting
In William Shatner's novel The Return, Spock is nearly assimilated by the Borg, but is saved by the fact that he mind-melded with V'ger. This is because, according to Shatner's novel, the alien race that found V'ger was an earlier form of the Borg. Spock was saved from assimilation because he had part of the Borg collective in his mind after he mind-melded with V'ger.
Taken frm the Borg wiki entry.

Oh my gosh, I saw Persis Khambatta recently in Lois & Clark. I didn't realise it was her until the commentary pointed her out. It was her final appearance on TV or film, according to Wiki. Sad now.
