It is sad that the Enterprise-D was lost, I think the Dura's Sisters maybe damaged the power systems when they attacked.
I don't think they were firing on random spots, and the ship may have been old. But it could of been upgraded, which happens to other ships. Such as the U.S.S Lakota, when it fought the Defiant.Β
Which would weaken the phasers and shields, and mess up other systems. Such as engines and the warp core, which destroyed the ship after the battle.

Fantastic image- the Dreadnaught conversion really works for the Galaxy Class (covering some of the imbalance of the saucer to hull ratio) and the Defiant is just perfect!

the galaxy refit would be tanking damage as the defiant would be zooing around you dealing lots of damage. a deadly combo

This is SUCH an awesome picture. Β I always imagined in All Good Things that when Riker got his admiral pips, he had 5 Starships tractor the D's saucer off the surface of Veridian III. Β If they can tractor a Jem'Hadar bug off a planet, I refuse to believe they can't tractor a saucer section. Β Then, Riker had it repaired, refitted and, attached to a new Galaxy X class star drive section. Β That way, Riker can have his D, the 1701 - E can still exist and, All Good Things could still be a possible future, even with the destruction of the D. Β After all, only half of it blew up. ^^
As for the little D there, the Defiant class is simply timeless. ^^ Β Beautiful models.

Repairing the Saucer section is practically impossible, The damage to the ventralΒ hull from the landingΒ is too severe to be repairedΒ and Galaxy Class Saucers are usually deemed a total loss for that reason, If there was a way to show what the underside of the saucer section looked like, there'd probably be numerous gashes in the hullΒ and the lower decks of the saucer would be compacted similar to how Voyager ended up after crashing on the Class L Planet in "Timeless"
