Description
Once after my intermentBefore my soul's been weighed
In Charon's vessel, there I sat
For the ferryman I prayed;
Charon, Charon, my dear friend, you are my last hope
Answer all of my questions, I'm willing to know;
How's my mother, my father and all who I have left?
Are they missing their dead son? Am I remebered?
But the skeleton said nothing
Silence slowly closed in us
Till I fed up and decided
To speak once more and break the hush
Charon, Charon, cruel friend, why are you so mute?
Answer all of my questions, I'm craving to know;
Is my tomb still visited? Oh, am I still mourned?
Is there any who plant there some flowers to grow?
But Charon went on rowing
He pulled without a word.
And my words just kept flowing
And I asked one last question.
Charon, Charon, noseless nerd, coldhearted monster!
Answer at least one question, I demand to know!
If about the living matters you remain stout silent,
Tell me where this old vessel is about to go?
Then the boatman looked at me,
He showed me his skinless jaw
I clearly saw his frightful grin
And teeth-shattering he spoke.
I've been rowing this vessel for thousands of ages,
I have met a lot of souls, I can't tell so much.
Their temper, they speak to me, very roughly ranges,
But from that their destination my job is to judge.
From your words I see clearly your very nature,
You asked it, I let you hear; here is my answer.
You're missing nobody, neighter mother nor father,
It is just your memory, you're only concerned.
While living your reputation was only you've dealt
Now you're dead, so it's memory, everything you've left
Where this boat is going? Now easy to tell.
Your are full of vanity. Your're going to Hell.

This one is nice because, even if it doesn't rhyme at all lines, the musicality of it allows the words to sing.
And I like the insults you used xD "Noseless nerd"... I did not know that one
About the message of the poem itself, well, I do not know which side are you on - as I read from the previous comments for this piece I guess that you are on the side of the dead soul. But if you aim to defend Vanity, I do not find that very useful, as my view is that it is not Vanity which sent the soul to hell, but more his inability to remain calm. I am sure that if he had not insulted Charon, things would have been slightly better for him... Or not ?

Hm; I think I sould improve my pronounciation as I found both this and the Mirror rhyming everywhere.
In fact I am not on eighter side; I am in the poem itself.
Why do you think anger is a primal cause of the dead soul? Can't it be that it comes from somewhere just as the words he/she says?

Maybe it is my pronunciation then... But I am sure of myself, at least for some of them. I will check my dictionary with the phonetic writing and we will see
You are the poem itself ? Well, I might give it another thought then
Your poetry is nice, because it makes me think.
I think that anger is the cause of its fall, because what he says is only human and, in the beginning, quite normal. But it is because he looses his nerves that he shows his "inner" flaw of Vanity : if he had remained calm, he would not have said what condemned him. Do you see what I mean ?

Yes, that makes sense.

I would rather say Charon symbolizes the judging aspect of society. It is he who leads the individual to the right path - right from the perspect of society. He choses the final destination - Heaven or Hell - where Hell is a place for those who are not needed for the community. From this perspect Charon is not the society but the judgement of it, I would say.
