All I can think of is that it might be nice if the lines of the steering fins or whatever you call 'm would be thinner.
That's it, because I love this piece even better than the last one I was all enthusiastic about.
And the answer to the question you asked before:
if there was one thing in the world that if one could draw would be the most amazing drawing in the world it would definitely be a floating island with a harbor or landing dock for these ships or smaller airships, and a seasailor's village and perhaps a little church. THAT would be fantastic.

This is really great! The blimp is wonderful! There is just one thing that is bugging me though. You need more value changes in your sky and clouds. The whole drawing flattens out because the foreground and background are the same. It takes away from the blimp and makes it look like a sticker. It hope this helped a bit >,<'"

Age doesn't matter. You aren't gunna beat me while saying "not bad for a 17 year old"

true true. however you do have to account for the fact that you have had lessons pretty much every single day for the last two years in fine art, and there are what? 140 ish days to every school year.. so over two hundred lessons, of course your better then me now. of course you beat me now. but know this. all my skill was developed in the last 10 months. without any teachers, without and mindful feed back. without anything but myself and a little free time.
so like you said. i can probably out draw allot of the people in your program already.
so just imagine what will happen when it becomes everything. when i have teachers.
age does matter, its a variable that you cant discard, and in that sense. i already beat you.

you are interesting. verry interesting. and i excuse myself. you were partially right.
your right im not going to beat you by saying not bad for a 17 year old...
well... ever heard of the bank Desjartins?
i just got back from a one on one meeting with the Director General
im going to draw one of his banks
if he likes it. ill have 5 others to do. and if he likes those. then he is going to write me up a pretty little piece of paper that will recommend me to the head office of Desjardins. and therefor give me the chance to do architectural drawings of every bank in Montreal. and even Canada. possibly even get a contract. and even one for Montreal alone. it would be worth nearly 30,000$
so. i will not say not bad for a 17 year old.. instead. i will say.... Beat that.

Great! Working for a bank! I am so happy for you! That is great for you and presents you with wonderful opportunities. I hope it gets you far. However, that is not something I would want for myself.
Since we are putting it all on the table, you can say you beat me when you win all the achievement awards and purchase prizes in every year throughout Illustration given by the program as well as the college meaning that you will have to maintain the highest overall average in all your courses including those not related to our program this goes without saying that you will also have to be on the honour roll. When you can say that then you can say that you beat me. Do what I did and more then you can have your victory.

hehehehehe, the achievements.... the awards. they mean nothing to me. and they wont meen anything to your future employer. all that matters is the art and the portfolio. besides. even if you did get any achievements in fine arts, illustration and design is a wholeee new game.
when we first meet you said i could probably out draw most of the people in your program. that either meens that im that good,or they were that bad. and i pray for your sake they were not that bad or else it would seem that there was not much competition to get those awards and achievements.

Awards and achievements mean nothing? I really have to disagree.
At an interview who are they going to pick? Somebody with no recommendations or prizes from recognized establishments? I don't think so. For scholarships, are they going to pick someone with no achievements or substantial recommendations? I don't think so. These awards mean that not only am I proficient in what I do I am also dependable and proficient in everything else. It reflects my time management skills, my professional behaviour, my work ethic and my artistic skills. All these things matter when you get a job. Not just the portfolio. You could be a wonderful artist but, can you make that deadline? Can you deal with 7 huge projects at once? Is your working meaningful and intriguing? All these things are reflected in awards and achievements.
You are right though, Illustration is a whole different game, especially since Fine Arts has 10% more work than any other college level program in Montreal.
I said you were better than "most" and I didn't mean everyone. It was because they were weaker but believe me, there was enough competition to keep me satisfied.

10% more work... hehe thats a good one and maybe true. but illustration is 90% more skill. i havent had much opertunity to gain achievements... but i did receive the Distinction in art award for my school. and i was also told that i was the best they had seen in the last decade... ive had had mentoring from 2 of the best painters in Quebec, both only teach adults but they thought what i had to offer was.. "extraordinary" i also recieved the distinction in woodworking for my wood sculpting. ive won every art competition ive ever submitted to. i also have been recognized by the Co President of visual effects at Universal Studios. ive been in contact with some of the biggest illustrators in the industry. and half of them have told me that when they were my age they were not nearly as good as me.
i think as illustrators its our job to amaze.. inspire... change people. so lets see who wins by seeing who makes the most jaws drop to the floor in amazement. shall we?
