As an Italian native speaker I can say almost the same thing for Portuguese

I'm Spanish and Spanish is relatively close to Italian so I kind of understand. Not to mention some of my family lives in Italy.

I'm learning Spanish right now and I can understand a quite a bit of Italian (when it is written especially) because of my Spanish, even though I'm not fluent in Spanish yet. :3 Hablo un poco de espaΓ±ol... pero me gusta hablar en espaΓ±ol, y estudio la idioma por divertido y escuela. (sorry if I got anything wrong, I am clearly not a native Spanish speaker).Β

Haha it's okay. I still understand perfectly what you meant to say. Your Spanish is good, too! I bet if you study a bit more, you're going to be a master at it!

well, as an Italian native speaker I can understand a bit of written Spanish, a little less if spoken

Exactly. Some words in Spanish are extracted from Italian, too. Words such as 'Chao' are from 'Ciao'.
(And strangely enough, I understand when people curse in Italian hehe...)
